TRANSITION YOUTHS | OPPORTUNITIES FOR OHIOANS WITH DISABILITIES

Program helps young people with disabilities transition from the classroom to a workplace or college. Services enable an easier transition from one stage of life to another. Counselors will develop an individual plan of employment based on abilities, strengths and goals.

OOD’s Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), Division of Employer & Innovation Services (EIS), and Division of Disability Determination (DDD) partner with nonprofits, schools, businesses, and other public and community organizations to: Help individuals with disabilities find and keep jobs Prepare students with disabilities for the world of work and the next steps after graduation Support college students with disabilities in completing their degrees or credentials and planning careers that meet the demands of today's labor market Help students and adults with disabilities gain valuable work experience and access to state government employment through paid apprenticeships Provide supported employment services for working-age adults with developmental disabilities Assist Business Enterprise operators who are legally blind in their entrepreneurial careers in vending services Provide employment support for individuals in recovery who are served through certified specialized dockets Process applications made to the federal Social Security Administration (SSA) for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
