PREVENTION, RETENTION AND CONTINGENCY (PRC) - EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION | PORTAGE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES
Provides payment assistance for expenses related to maintaining or obtaining employment as well as for job training and education expenses. - Transportation Assistance: Provides three (3) months worth of bus passes or a maximum of $200 per month in gas cards with a three (3) month limit. - Employment Assistance: Provides a maximum of $500 for job related tools/equipment or supplies, professional licensing, and up to five (5) uniforms (if required for employment). - Adult Education: Provides a maximum of $1,000 to pay for Adult Basic Education, GED Preparation, Occupational Training and/or Short-Term Education Programs.

Eligibility
- Serves Portage County households with at least one (1) child age 18 and under (or through 19 if the child is still in high school), pregnant women (from conception to delivery), and (in certain cases) the non-custodial father or mother. - Family must have income which is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline Level. - At least one (1) member of the family must be a United States citizen or qualified alien. - All assistance must be related to obtaining or maintaining employment, job training, or education. -The following time limits apply: -Transportation Assistance: Eligible twice in a 12 month period (time period begins on the date of application) and must be working or about to start a job with a schedule of 30 hours or more per week. - Employment Assistance: Eligible once in a 12 month period (time period begins on the date of application). - Adult Education: Limited to adults (age 18 and over) that are in need of education or training to become self sufficient. Assistance is limited to up to four (4) months in duration and may be only accessed once in a lifetime. In addition, must be ineligible for WIA (Work Investment Act) programs (unless applying for GED preparation). - Must also participate in Soft Skills program at Portage Workforce Connection.
