- Serves Portage County youth age 14 through 19 (or grades 9th through 12th) in households with income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline Level. - At least one (1) member of the family must be a United States citizen or qualified alien. - Assistance available as needed. Specific qualifications by program: - Education Proficiency is available once in a 12 month period per child. - Academic Support Services: Applicant must not qualify for free lunch program.
- Completed application form. - Proof of address. - Proof of financial need (all income which has been received by any member of the household during the previous 30 days will be considered). - Gross income, both earned and unearned, will be counted. - Verbal verification of income from the income source is permissible. - Proof of all liquid assets (verbal or written). - Other documents will vary depending on the need. This is explained on the application form, or agency will request as needed. - For Academic Support Services: Will need letter from school verifying that the student has fees and the amount of fees. - If needed, Agency will help clients pay for any required documentation that the client does not already have.

Offers two (2) programs that provides financial assistance with education services and vocational training expenses for eligible youth. - Education Proficiency: Provides a maximum of $500 assistance to pay for additional schooling (such as summer school) in order to graduate, advance to the next grade, or pass the Proficiency test. - Academic Support Services: Provides a maximum of $500 per academic year to help pay for vocational fees, tools, and uniforms.
