Homeowners who own and occupy their home as their principal place of residence in Cuyahoga County as of January 1 of the year they file for the exemption. A homeowner and spouse can claim this tax reduction on only one home in Ohio. May file a late application for one previous year not receiving reduction.
Proof of home ownership/occupancy in Cuyahoga County
parcel number is needed if individual is checking whether or not they are receiving the reduction.

Application is normally handled during the process of purchasing a home when the deed is transferred. If client is unsure whether they are receiving the reduction or not, they may phone for information. If not receiving, may walk in to apply or receive application by mail.
