Protects Ashland County from foodborne illness. In the event that a foodborne outbreak does occur, epidemiologic action is taken by the Health District to control the outbreak and bring it to a conclusion. Also provides the licensing and inspection of all Food Service Operations, Vending Machine Operations, Retail Food Establishments, and Temporary Food and Mobile FSO/RFE within the jurisdiction of the Health Districts.

Sanitarians work with local businesses to ensure food safety in Pickaway County to reduce the rate of diseases transmitted through food.
Food Service Operations (FSOs) and Retail Food Establishments (RFEs) are licensed and inspected by the PCPH Environmental Health Division. Restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, school cafeterias, caterers, and other permanent facilities that sell food are required to be licensed under the Risk Program
Protects the public's health by assisting and monitoring aspects of food protection which include plan review, inspections, licensing, education, complaint, and food borne outbreak investigations. Educates the public, employees, owners, and managers of food facilities through Level 1 and Level 2 courses offered at Richland Public Health covering subjects regarding food safety.
