Responsible for enforcing certain federal laws related to banking, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act. Accepts complaints about state-chartered banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System from bank customers experiencing discriminatory treatment or deceptive actions covered by these laws. If contacted regarding an institution that is not part of the Federal Reserve System, will refer to the proper regulator. Cannot resolve contract disputes or matters that are the subjects of pending lawsuits. Problems with individual banks regarding customer service or specific bank policies are not addressed by federal law or regulation and may not be covered by the laws mentioned above.
