Provides a one-on-one program that can assist eligible individuals who are interested in purchasing a new home, opening a savings account, nontraditional banking services, improving credit scores, and financial education. Programs include instruction on using computers, setting up computer devices, resume development and review and online employment application assistance.

Provides a program designed to empower individuals and families to make positive changes in their lives to increase family stability. Offers cooking and nutrition classes. Offers budgeting workshops to help handle finances and to save money. Agency sponsors field trips to thrift stores and discount stores to help the client build shopping strategies. Various "do-it-yourself" workshops are offered (such as how to make laundry detergent). Goal is to help individuals save money and increase their quality of life even if they have a small income. Parenting skills classes are also offered. Will refer to other community services as needed.

Offers (2) three-hour sessions of financial fitness workshops to improve your money management skills. Topics covered include: Budgeting, Financial Planning, Savings, Banking, Credit, Taxes and Insurance. Classes are available at the Homeport Housing Advisory Center or online and recommeded for: - First-time homebuyers with a credit score of less than 640 and/or any one of the following situations: - Needs assistance with creating a spending plan/ budget - Low credit score or unaware of credit score, - Limited savings, - Less than 18 months of steady income, - Bankruptcy not yet discharged/dismissed or its only been 1-2 years since it’s been discharged/dismissed.

Offers computer classes and instruction in dance, foreign languages, gardening, arts and crafts, woodworking, upholstery and babysitting. Also offers self-directed, online classes on a variety of topics.

Offers financial education classes to improve financial literacy to the residents of the Greater Lorain area. Classes are focused on Financial Recovery (Credit Repair) and Money Matters (Budgeting and Saving).

Provides online information and resources for money management issues such as buying a house, budgeting for emergencies, filing taxes, getting a car loan, paying for college, and planning for retirement.

Offers additional supportive services to graduates of New Directions core programs. Additional services include employment services to help with job search, finding job leads, and resume reviews; individual career counseling; support groups; monthly Meet the Recruiter sessions to meet hiring employers; and complimentary money coaching sessions with financial planners.
