Provides a program to divert youth who have committed a first offense from further patterns of activity that would lead towards increased involvement with the justice system. A social worker/case manager works with the family to determine a case plan with appropriate options. Participating youth must complete the requirements of the case plan and not re-offend within a specified time to avoid having the case sent to Juvenile Court for disposition.

Offers vacation security checks, neighborhood watch programs, and security evaluations for businesses.

Throughout the year the Children’s Services Division of the Knox County Department of Human Services sponsors parenting sessions for children of all ages. There is also a teen specific group to assist teens in the handling of certain issues including; dealing with authority, self-esteem, and setting consequences for actions taken, and a variety of other problems and circumstances that teens face on a daily basis.

Provides programs that build relationships with children through constructive activities. Topics may include improving children's overall physical, social and academic performance, learning non-violent conflict management techniques, decreasing substance and alcohol abuse, community involvement and awareness, social and life skills, character building, and goal-setting.

Offers educational and prevention programs that provide alternatives to drugs and violence. Includes a TV/Radio program that focuses on current issues of interest to teens. Staff are also available to do training on prevention issues for health professionals, commercial groups, schools, and community-based organizations.

Prevents and reduces neighborhood youth crime and delinquent behavior while improving both mental and physical well being. Provides diverse, positive activities and opportunities for youth ages five to twelve. Provides transportation to five different schools, to and from their school. Upon arrival the children are given a hot nutritious meal and then they can attend: arts and crafts, swimming two times a week, playground, gym, game room, computer lab, homework study center and tutorial help. Open all school vacations days during the school year and on snow days from 9 am to 6 pm.
