Clandestine Drug Lab Unit (CDLU) within BCI’s Narcotics Division to respond to reports of labs and to provide training for local law enforcement agencies. Under BCI’s Narcotics Division, CDLU responds to reports of labs and provides training for local law enforcement agencies. CDLU is staffed with agents who are trained to enter, assess and process clandestine drug production sites. The unit provides and conducts Clandestine Laboratory Safety & Awareness training. Agents from the unit conduct awareness level training throughout the state to not only first responders, but children service workers, parole and probation officers, prosecuting attorneys, civic groups and anyone else that might encounter a drug lab. Participants are told about the hazards of meth and meth production, and protocols to follow if they encounter a lab. This training is free and can be customized to fit any group. The comprehensive program has been well received and agents are now conducting over 100 classes per year.

SMP staff and volunteers educate and empower Ohio Medicare beneficiaries to recognize, avoid and report suspected Medicare fraud, waste and abuse.

Dispatches officers to the scene of a crime in progress or a police emergency incident (call 911). Also dispatches police officers to the scene of incidents where citizens need non emergency police services

Provides information, answers questions, and investigates complaints regarding different types of insurance including homeowner's, health, managed care, life, Medicare supplement plans, annuity contracts, and automobile, as well as insurance agents. Offers educational materials that provide information about different types of insurance (auto, health, homeowners, etc.).

Civil and criminal traffic court; civil actions up to $15,000; jurisdiction over misdemeanors and felonies through preliminary hearings; and small claims. Serving Fairborn, Beavercreek City and Township, and Bath Township.

Conducts complaint investigations for junk motor vehicles on private property, unlicensed vehicles on private property, and parking vehicles in the building set back. Also conducts complaint investigation and enforcement for seasonal high grass/weeds complaints, sidewalk and right-of-way obstructions/encumbrances, signage and postings in public right-of-way, graffiti on public and private property.

Provides a centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children. Can make reports of suspected online enticement of children for sexual acts, extra-familial child sexual molestation, child pornography, child sex tourism, child sex trafficking, unsolicited obscene materials sent to a child, misleading domain names, and misleading words or digital images on the internet. May be able to assist and/or provide information on removing exploitive images of an individual found on the internet.

Takes reports, investigates, and enforces violations of federal firearms, alcohol, and tobacco control laws. May also report observed gang activities, vendor violations of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms licensing laws. Will also investigate reports of violations of laws covering explosives and explosive devices.

Accepts reports of scams, or attempts to defraud someone, that were conducted by phone, internet, or mail.

Provides general assistance and information for victims including child exploitation, human trafficking, local resources, and more. Dispatches police officers within Union city limits to the scene of a crime in progress, a scene of incidents where citizens need non emergency assistance or a police emergency.

Provides traffic court, both civil and criminal, original jurisdiction over any civil action within service area up to $10,000; total jurisdiction over the commission of any misdemeanor within its service area; jurisdiction over felonies up to the preliminary hearing stage; small claims court (citizen-filed claims under $2,000); and performs marriages.

Counseling and psychiatric services for adults and transitional age youth. CPST available for adults. Individual, marital, family and group counseling.

Establishes and enforces standards to protect air and water quality (including lead in water), as well as solid and hazardous waste management and cleanup. Insures proper handling of solid wastes and hazardous materials including radiative substances, toxic fumes, and explosives. Offers information and education about environmental issues such as air quality, water quality, water supply, and others. Handles non-emergency complaints about violations of state's environmental protection laws. Examples of complaints include (but are not limited to) smoke or heavy dust emissions from industrial facilities, illegal dumping, burning of trash or tires, drinking water issues, destruction or draining of wetlands, and discharging industrial or agricultural waste into water or storm sewers. Offers opportunities for citizens to participate in public advisory groups, public information sessions, and public hearings. Can provide information regarding lead in water including if the area is under an advisory and/or what actions one can take.

Conducts interior and exterior housing complaint inspections regarding issues like trash accumulation, water infiltration, pest infestations, lack of proper utilities, and structural issues.

Handles reports of harmful or potentially harmful issues or events that would affect students and schools in the Parma City School District. Calls are confidential and callers may remain anonymous.

Provides free safety escorts, battery jump starts, lockouts, and fuel emergencies by trained security personnel. Accepts reports of graffiti, public cleaning issues, suspicious activity, loitering, and aggressive panhandling. Ambassadors patrol on foot and bicycle, perform checks in downtown businesses, welcome visitors, and answer questions about transit and other downtown Akron amenities, share information with visitors, and provide event support. Trained in first aid, safety/police procedures, conflict management, and customer relations.

Provides an anonymous 24-hour helpline for reporting situations where individuals may hurt themselves or others before it occurs. Accepts calls regarding potential violence, theft, drug or alcohol use, sexual harassment, weapons, bullying and so forth. Reports are forwarded to the appropriate individuals at the City of Hudson government or Hudson City Schools. Provides suicide prevention and mental health counseling by trained counselors.

Police services for the city of Warren. Anonymous tip line for reporting crime.

Offers a phone line through which persons may report on possible arson in the state of Ohio. Also provides speakers who can present on various fire safety issues. Maintains a list of organizations throughout the state that can provide fire safety inspections, smoke detectors, and other fire safety related services.

Provides legal services to low-income residents of Montgomery, Greene, Preble, and Darke Counties. Legal Line provides advice in civil matters, consumer fraud and home repair scams; domestic violence, divorce, and child support; eviction, foreclosure, and other housing problems; health care access; predatory lending; Social Security/SSI; unemployment benefits; and welfare, Medicaid, and food stamps.
