Offers a class that combines civics instruction from Oberlin College student volunteer teachers and legal assistance from immigration lawyers to help the graduates of the class become naturalized citizens.

Does not litigate directly on the client's behalf, but refers to a network of legal professionals as needed. Works with the civil rights offices of all government agencies on policies. Evaluates cases where: - Applicant has a pending removal proceeding in Cleveland immigration court AND lives in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Geauga, Lake, or Ashtabula County, or was referred by another immigration advocacy organization (such as Catholic Charities, Asian Services in Action or Building Hope in the City), or the applicant is being detained in Geauga County Jail; - Applicant is the victim of domestic violence, trafficking, or other crime (whether crime occurred in applicant’s home country, during applicant’s journey to the United States or in the United States), or applicant is under the age of 18 years old; - Applicant would like to file a family-based petition, is married, recently divorced, the parent of an abusive United States citizen or legal permanent resident (LPR), or seeking custody/guardianship of a child who has an immigration issue; - Applicant is seeking to apply for naturalization; - Applicant would like to request bond. If case is Board of Immigration appeal level or above, Legal Aid must have represented this client in the underlying case.

Can assist with power of attorney for foreign citizens.

Provides low-cost counseling services to those who need assistance with the immigration process.

Provides culturally specific and trauma-informed services to individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or human trafficking, with a focus on the immigrant and refugee communities. Both advocacy and legal services are available. The advocate may be able to help with crisis and long-term safety planning, counseling referrals, financial planning, support and referrals to shelter, case management, filing for a Civil Protection Order (CPO), and other services. Attorneys are available when applicable to meet with clients to discuss any legal concerns. If qualified, attorneys can help with a divorce, CPO representation, Marsy's Law, immigration, custody, and so forth. Provides a holistic approach model of assigning one advocate and one attorney to help the client through all their needs, which is beneficial for all survivors, preventing the survivor from having to relive their trauma over and over again by telling multiple people the same story. Offers support groups for different ethnic communities and education/outreach to community members, service providers, and others specializing in cultural humility education. Assists agricultural workers with governmental procedures related to immigration laws, recovery of unpaid wages, violations of farm worker protection laws, the application for and denial of public benefits, housing evictions, and a variety of consumer issues. Advocates not only work to resolve a clients immediate problem, but also provide education on the legal process and their rights and obligations. Service is limited by availability of staff and funding. There is no guarantee that a lawyer will be available to take a client's case.
