Public Special Schools | Crawford County Board Of Developmental Disabilities

For children 3 to 6 years of age Fairway School offers preschool. The classes are an integrated program with students with special needs and students who are typically developing. Students who qualify for special needs services receive preschool services free. Students who are typically developing will be charged tuition. Tuition is based upon the income of the family utilizing a sliding scale. The preschool program follows Ohio Department of Education Early Learning Content Standards, rules and regulations, and Creative Curriculum. Our teachers have a minimum of a 4 year degree and are certified by the Ohio Department of Education to teach preschool. Each classroom has an assistant teacher who has their paraprofessional certification from the Ohio Department of Education. The standard student/adult ratio in our classrooms is 16 to 3. Identified students also receive the benefit of ancillary services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and adaptive physical education. All day programs are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Fairway between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Breakfast is provided daily to the students at no cost. Lunch is also available to be purchased. Food is prepared through Bucyrus City Schools Food Service. Students may also pack their lunch if they wish. Students are required to rest for one hour per day on their individual cots. Transportation is provided by Ohio Specialty Services (OSS). Students that are on an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) receive this service at no charge. Typically developing students are charged on a sliding scale. Each bus has an aide to ride along to assist the driver. If desired, parents may choose to provide transportation for their child.
