Thurber House offers children's writing programs year round for students in grades 2-12. No matter the class, students will be challenged to write outside the box, use their imagination, expand their horizons, and have fun creating new things! The Stevens Literacy Center is engaged in community outreach in numerous, diverse relationships with local schools, businesses, and other community agencies.

Provides a home-based program staffed by trained volunteers that supports positive parent-child interactions, language skills, and early literacy. Provides under-resourced families guidance and material support with books and educational toys. Activities occur in family home and facilitated by organization staff. Operates as a Christian organization.

Provides Adult Education/Work Readiness programs, Adult Basic Education programs, Adult Literacy programs, GED/High School Equivalency test instruction and also education volunteer opportunities, basic computer training, career exploration, job readiness and ACT work keys assessment.

Serves students who left high school before earning their diploma, high school graduates who need additional skills for employment, and high school graduates who need remedial academic skills for college. Helps prepare students for work keys test for adult career tech programs and the Adult Diploma Program.

Provides services for individuals who need assistance acquiring the skills to be successful in post-secondary education and training and employment. Services include basic math, reading, and writing skills, secondary education/high school equivalence preparation, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Provides basic literacy education to teach new refugees/immigrants simple skills such as how to write their name, give their home address, phone number, etc. Also provides tutoring to adults to refugee/immigrant adults who are taking GED/Basic Education classes.

Provides literacy tutoring for those children having issues with reading at their grade level. Concentration is on K-3rd Grade Level reading.

Supports area non-profit education, health and human service programs.

Provides comprehensive speech-language, reading and writing evaluations and therapy to children and adults. Services are provided based on evaluation results and the needs of the clients/families.

Provides a 6-week workshop that provides families and caregivers with hands-on strategies for building literacy at home, reinforces the fact that parents and caregivers are their child's first and most important teacher, and builds text-rich environments at home by providing take-home books and other parent resources for families who participate in the program. All participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program and other incentives.

Provides a variety of adult literacy services. Service includes classes in basic reading and math, classes that refine skills to take one of the tests that serves as the equivalent of a high school diploma, high school equivalency testing, classes to develop English-speaking skills when a first language is not English, and the opportunity for eligible individuals to complete requirements for a high school diploma by passing a job skills test and completing job training in health care, manufacturing, logistics, food preparation, emergency services or construction. Successful fulfillment of job skills test and job training result in a high school diploma as well as any earned certificate.

Provides resources, support and opportunities for life-long learning to adults. Classes include Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE), college preparation for math and English, GED preparation, GED practice testing, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Provides homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and encourages members to become self-directed learners. Designed specifically to help kids and teens with homework, this program is available after school at Clubs. Dedicated youth development professionals and volunteers supervise each session and help youth members complete their assignments for the day. When they finish their work, they may choose to participate in a variety of other engaging and educational activities to develop their skills even further.

Provides reading, writing, speaking, math, an problem solving at levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job and in society . Helps students identify and achieve goals and life skills. Provides GED training to those students who wish to receive the Ohio high school equivalency diploma for personal achievement and employment.
