A veterinarian must examine the animal after the quarantine to verify the animal's good health and update its rabies vaccination. Upon receipt of an animal bite report the animal must undergo a 10-day quarantine period, either on the owner's premises or at a pound or kennel. The animal cannot be released without proper rabies vaccination. The bite victim will be notified of the results of the quarantine findings and advised on any further action necessary.
