Responsible for licensing and inspecting food operations in accordance to Ohio Revised Code 3717. This includes: * Food Services Operations (FSO) * Retail Food Establishments (RFE) * Mobile Food Service Operations and Mobile Retail Food Establishments (fairs/festival trailers) * Temporary Food Service Operations * Vending Machine Locations FSO and RFE applications are renewed each year by Mar 1.

Provides environmental health services, sewage disposal, water supply program, food protection, rabies control and emergency preparedness.

Licenses and inspects food service operations, vending machine operations, retail food establishments, and temporary food and mobile food operations as described above. Responds to consumer complaints regarding restaurant. Reports and investigates food-borne illnesses.

Offers services to prevent the spread of communicable diseases as a result of environmental factors. Registered Environmental Health Specialists conduct inspections in the following program areas: food safety, sewage treatment systems, private water systems, public swimming pools, campgrounds, manufactured home parks, congregate settings, body art establishments, public health nuisances, and animal bites.

Provides licensing and inspecting restaurants to help protect the community from food borne illnesses; inspecting schools to help create healthy learning environments;inspecting retail food operations, licensing and inspecting public pools and spas, manufactured home parks, campgrounds, and tattoo establishments; septic system consultations, permits and inspections; water consultations and testing; permits and inspections for plumbing systems and private wells;lead poisoning prevention, rabies quarantine; and solid waste inspection of disposal facilities.

Enforces food handling and dispensing laws and regulations for a variety of retail food establishments, including restaurants, food stands, mobile food carts, congregate meal sites, markets, and bakeries. Accepts and attempts to resolve complaints regarding cleanliness and other conditions that are potentially hazardous to customer health.

Provide birth certificates for anyone born in Ohio and death certificates for Mahoning County residents; group home, rest home and nursing home inspections and licensure program; food and sanitary inspections; information on AIDS and free distribution on safer sex products; well child/infant immunizations and adult immunizations; reproductive health and wellness clinic; sexually transmitted infection clinic; rodent and mosquito control program.
