Provides assistance to parents and families on a variety of parenting topics, including discipline, literacy and special needs. Provides childcare provider training, a lending library with books and supplies for childcare providers, fingerprinting services, and the Step Up To Quality program for type A childcare providers.

Provides Ohio Approved in-person or virtual training to help early childhood professionals advance their skills, programs and careers. Child care providers learn from highly qualified instructors while interacting with other early childhood professionals. Training may include single sessions or series that focus on important child development, early childhood education best practices and basic health and safety training.

Offers youth courses that include babysitting education. Provides health & safety training for adults in the workplace, church, school or civic group and individuals. Topics included CPR, AED (defibrillator), first aid as well as blood borne pathogens. Choose from pre-scheduled classed or groups of 8 or more schedule their own time.

Offers a number of different trainings for child care providers. Maintains a calendar of community training workshops, seminars, and programs pertaining to child care issues. Provides information on topics of interest to child care providers and those who wish to become child care providers. Also offers day care home providers support, materials, consultation, and networking opportunities.

This course prepares students to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children, how to stay safe, what to do in an emergency, how to choose age-appropriate activities, and how to recognize and handle a variety of behaviors. Designed for students ages 11 and older, this online training provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for infants and children up to the age of 10, as well as to manage a babysitting business. It takes about 4 hours to complete and makes learning fun with lots of videos and interactive games. A score of 80% or higher on the final exam is required to receive a printable Diploma. Grandparents will learning tips on creating a good relationship from the start as well as learning to say no to every request to babysit. This will enhance their relationship with their children and create lasting memories with their grandchildren.

4C for Children provides free child care referrals to families through a comprehensive database of child care centers, preschool programs, family child care homes, Head Start programs and after-school programs.

Models and teaches skills to enhance the capacities of all caregivers working directly with young children who present significant social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. When further services are needed, connects child care settings and families to appropriate education and community mental health services and assists with care coordination.

This in-person course, which takes about 6 hours, teaches the same topics as the online babysitter training class, plus it offers hands-on skills practice and additional training in first aid. You can also sign up for Babysitter’s Training with Pediatric First Aid/CPR, which takes about 9 ½ hours and also offers a 2-year certification in Pediatric First Aid/CPR. A digital certificate is available upon successful completion of this course. In class, you learn how to: - Respond to emergencies with first aid, rescue breathing and more - Make good decisions under pressure - Communicate effectively with parents - Recognize safety and hygiene issues - Manage young children - Feed, diaper and care for infants - Start your babysitting business.

Provides child care subsidies for families who are eligible. This department also certifies providers who wish to provide care for children as a vocation.
