Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and are encouraged to exercise to increase strength and balance.

The program is designed to enable any adult that enjoys teaching pre-teens to facilitate an introductory level program to prepare students to care for themselves when parents are away for short periods of time. The 90-minute program teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies.
