Topics covered include nutrition, getting started with physical activity, overcoming stress, and staying motivated.

Participants are given individualized workbooks that provide information for now and for the future.

Volunteer instructors prepare students to recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, help someone who is choking, do the work of an unconscious person's heart and lungs until medical help arrives, keep an injured person safe from further injury and as comfortable as possible until medical care can arrive. Delivers primary health care in the home through a hospital-based interdisciplinary team to homebound (often bedridden) eligible veterans, whose caregivers are willing and able to assist in their care. Provides medical and nursing care, rehabilitation services, dietetic consultation, psychosocial assessment, educational services, medications, and equipment.
