HAPCAP has partnered with OUCU Financial to offer a Microloan program for Hocking, Athens, & Perry County residents. This loan program is for a one­time expense not exceeding $1,500. Applicants must have 30 days of a stable income within an ability to repay and participate in financial empowerment sessions. Eligible Expenses include: - Car repair on a vehicle owned and insured by the applicant - Paying off a payday or car title loan - Home repair on applicant-owned home - Medical expenses not covered by insurance - A one-time educational or certification expense - Deposit for a home or apartment.
The MicroLoan program is designed to offer small loans of up to $1200 that are repaid by the borrower at a very low interest rate. Eligible expenses include: - Car Expenses - Education Expense - Health Expense - Emergency Home Equipment Expense (unlivable situation) - Other Extraordinary Expenses. (loans are not made for regular living expenses). Repayment of the loan helps borrowers establish or improve their credit score/history. The MicroLoan program can serve as a good alternative to predatory lending companies that charge a very high interest rate and can trap the borrower in a cycle of debt. Financial planning training is required to help the borrower establish a budget and manage money more effectively.
