The Licking County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center has partnered with Pets for Patriots, Inc. Our Shelter offers dog adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots and will help them find their new best friends. Pets for Patriots also provides benefits and post-adoption follow-up.
Assists in pet adoptions; promotes responsible pet care; and coordinates a spay/neuter program. Cost for spaying/neutering is based on the type of animal (dog or cat), weight, and sex of the animal.

Provides doing a Foster-to-Adopt trial period as a great way to learn if a dog is a good fit for a family prior to adoption. When you Foster-to-Adopt, you take the dog(s) home for 14 days before deciding whether to adopt. Provides a foster ambassador program which includes caring for and marketing dogs who are available for adoption. Provides medical and behavioral fosters which include dogs who need to heal before becoming available for adoption or puppies who are not old enough for adoption.

Offers homeless animals up for adoption. All animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date shots, are wormed, heartworm tested for dogs and FIV and feline leukemia tested for cats.
Offers horses hope, shelter, and opportunity regardless of their situation or problems. Be it psychological or physiological we are committed to addressing the individual needs of each rescued animal. Our work begins with developing an individual diet, treatment regiments, and a training program for each horse according to its needs. When a horse has been sufficiently rehabilitated we go about the work of finding appropriate adoptive homes that suit the horse's needs and abilities.
Provides animal adoption services. Applicants must allow CAHS the option to conduct a home visit to confirm that your home will be a good environment for a new pet. We do not require a home visit for all adopters. We do home visits in extremely rare cases such as if the dog or cat requires unique medical care or if the dog has unique behavioral issues.
Full service veterinary clinic. Provide animal shelter, and Humane Department that investigates complaints of animal neglect, abuse or abandonment.

Adoptable cats pictured on the website are all vaccinated (FVRCP, Rabies as age appropriate), spayed/neutered, and have received flea and de-worming medication while they are at the shelter and will receive a microchip before they go home.
