S.U.N.S.H.I.N.E. Learning Station (SLS) is a state licensed, after-school, academically oriented enrichment and reinforcement program for children in grades K-5. Its mission is spelled out in its name: a School for Unusual Needs Students, offering a Healthy, Individualized, and Nurturing Education. The SLS specializes in serving students who need to improve study skills, need extra personal attention or additional academic help, including students who are both below and above their academic grade level. All students need special attention not currently available in the local elementary schools. The SLS maintains a student/teacher ratio of 6:1. The program’s goal is that, by the time the students move up to the Middle School, they will be working at grade level in math, reading, and writing. A supper/snack is provided as well as transportation from Marietta City School's elementary schools.
4-H is a non-formal educational, youth development program offered to individuals age 5 and in kindergarten to age 19. Ohio 4-H youth development reaches more than 240,000 youth each year – helping kids “learn by doing” through hands-on activities. All 4-H programs focus on active involvement and quality experiences which stimulate lifelong learning of values and skills. 4-H members learn valuable lessons in leadership, communication and collaboration while increasing their knowledge in math, science, technology and a variety of other topics. College for Kids has been developed to offer summer enrichment courses to students entering grades K-12. Various classes provides wonderful opportunities for students to explore new areas of interest, be exposed to college and stretch their imagination. College for Kids is a non-graded environment where personal growth, critical thinking and creativity are encouraged! All classes are open on a first-come, first-served basis. Class sizes are limited.
Provides for the spiritual, social, mental and physical development of children and youth and their families through a broad-based program which includes classes, recreational activities, fitness programs, leadership development opportunities, camping, youth clubs, parent-child programs, youth employment support services, cross-cultural exchange programs, community involvement opportunities and a variety of other activities that give participants a chance to develop a wide range of interpersonal relationships, strengthen family ties, and to achieve a satisfying degree of personal growth.
