Provides health care services, specialists, physicians, preventative medicine, programs and education to the surrounding community. Wood County provides care to those who have acute, life-threatening injuries or severe illnesses and also provide drug and alcohol abuse withdrawal treatment.

Services include adoptions of dogs and cats; discount programs for pet neutering/spaying; lost and found registry of pets; training class for dogs; pet therapy in nursing homes; foster home program for stray animals; dog licensing; humane education program for children; and a speakers bureau.

Offers the advocate program with trained staff, as part of a national effort to locate and identify at-risk older persons, especially those who live alone and who have no formal support systems. USS Community workers are trained to recognize outward signs that indicate an older adult needs help. Once a referral is made, advocacy staff work with the individual to stabilize their health and environment by encouraging acceptance of supportive services that include measures to live safely.

Provides volunteer training and opportunities for adults. Opportunities includes handling citizens complaints about government agencies. Advocating for the rights of residents of long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, group homes, and those individuals receiving home care services.

Provides traffic court, both civil and criminal, original jurisdiction over any civil action within service area up to $10,000; total jurisdiction over the commission of any misdemeanor within its service area; jurisdiction over felonies up to the preliminary hearing stage; small claims court (citizen-filed claims under $2,000); and performs marriages.
