The Mid-Ohio Traumatic Loss Response Team offers multiple volunteer opportunities, to ensure that support is available: volunteer advocates offer support as soon as possible after the event, peer support volunteers with lived experience meet with survivors, an annual memorial event is held, volunteers are provided opportunities to educate volunteers and community members on grief and loss, bereavement specialists offer a safe place for survivors to connecrt with other survivors. This program will train peer mentors to provide support and companionship to people immediately after the loss of a loved one to suicide or accidental overdose. Research shows that postvention services decrease trauma responses and aides in the healing process. Types of Volunteer Roles needed - Greeter- You greet everyone visiting the site to create a pleasant atmosphere. You screen taxpayers to determine the type of assistance they need and confirm they have the necessary documents to complete their tax returns. Tax law certification is not required for this position. - Interpreter- You provide free language interpreter services to customers who are not fluent in English. Basic tax knowledge is helpful, but it is not required for this position. - Designated Quality Reviewer- You review tax returns completed by volunteer tax preparers, ensuring that every taxpayer receives top-quality service and that the tax returns are error-free. Quality reviewers must (at a minimum) certify at the Basic level or higher (including specialty levels) based on the complexity of the tax returns reviewed. - Volunteer Tax Preparers who answer tax law questions, prepare, or correct tax returns, or conduct quality reviews of completed tax returns, must certify in Volunteer Standards of Conduct, Intake/Interview and Quality Review, and tax law. The preparer’s certification level must be at, or above, the level needed for the tax returns prepared.

Senior Support Action Group, through the support of volunteers of any age, provides homebound seniors and other medically homebound persons with access to food, transportation, and companionship.
