AmeriCorps Seniors engages volunteers 55+ with service in the community. Foster Grandparent Program engages low-income seniors (under 200% of the federal poverty threshold) to mentor youth. Qualifying Foster Grandparent Program volunteers receive a modest stipend, meal allowance, and mileage reimbursement. Senior Support Action Group, through the support of volunteers of any age, provides homebound seniors and other medically homebound persons with access to food, transportation, and companionship.

Meal Preparation/serving Volunteer Opportunities | Saint Vincent De Paul Housing Facilities - Newark

St. Vincent Haven is a 50-bed emergency and transitional shelter program for males 18 and older who are homeless from all over Licking County. Dinner is prepared by volunteer cooking teams in their homes and brought into the shelter each evening. Teams are generally three to four persons and they usually cook just once a month. Teams can use food received from the Food Pantry Network in the meals. There currently are a couple of open evenings. Our 4pm-12am shift is staffed by an employee and a Staff Assistant volunteer. Volunteer shifts are 4pm-8pm and 8pm-12am. Staff Assistant volunteers usually cover one 4-hour shift per month.
