The Clerk of Courts office responsibilities include receiving, docketing, indexing, certifying and preserving the pleadings, court orders and other legal documents that are filed with the courts served by the Clerk. Also serves court papers, as required by law and as directed by the parties, furnishes preliminary case schedules and notices of hearings, and issues such writs as summonses, subpoenas, warrants and executions. Deposits of money to cover court costs, fines, fees and restitution are received, accounted for and disbursed by the Clerk of Courts according to statute and court order. Other primary responsibility is the issuance of Certificates of Title for automobiles, boats and trailers.

Provides court-related documents; Domestic Relations Division provides court-related documents pertaining to divorce, dissolution, domestic violence and child support cases.

Oversees the day-to-day operations of the government of the City of Cold Spring. Works with local government officials to carry out policies set by City Council.

Responsible for maintaining the financial records of the city, including general ledger records, and reporting the city’s financial position to the Auditor of State, City Council, the Mayor and other interested parties. The Auditor is also responsible for the accounting of fixed assets, payroll preparation along with pension fund and tax reporting, accounts payable, purchasing card management, and managing the city’s bonded and noted debt. The office performs internal audits of the various city departments to assure that proper accounting procedures are being followed.
