Arborist: Provides care and management for the city's trees, which includes trees in parks, along city streets, and in the right of way. Streets Department: Maintains the streets, signage, and right of way areas for the city. Also handles snowplowing, leaf collection, pothole repair, and mowing. Sanitation: Provides sanitation sevices, including trash pickup, spring cleanup, and recycling pickup and dropoff facilities.

Program is designed to prevent sewer backups in single and two-family homes due to surcharging in city sewers from heavy rain or sewer blockages. Program provides installation of an approved backflow prevention device on home sewer lines using an approved plumbing contractor.

Provides Water, sewer & electric service connection. and an office that accepts payments on current utility bills and past due accounts.

Operates the city water and sewer departments for the City of Sheffield Lake. Bills water, sewer, refuse and storm water. Monitors water quality, reads meters, repairs water service lines, main lines, meters and hydrants. Provides residential and commercial water taps, manages the water tower and protects the residents' overall water quality. Monitors sewage collection and flow, repairs and maintains sewer lines, monitosr and maintains lift stations, and facilitates municipal sewage removal.

Provides sewer services for the Village of Adelphi.

Provides regular compliance with federal, state and local wastewater laws and regulations; development of long term planning for the City’s wastewater needs; provide tours to the public including: regulatory agencies, schools, businesses, economic development groups; offer classroom visits to area schools to discuss water quality and local environmental concerns; provide full service training to employees to meet the demands of the industry. Also provides regular compliance with federal, state and local wastewater laws and regulations; respond to all property owner complaints of sewer backups at any hour of the day; determine the source .and cause of sewer backups; cleaning of ditch lines and culverts; general maintenance of the collection system.

Maintains streets, signs and signals in the Mansfield City limits. Applies snow/ice control as necessary to maintain more than 600 lane miles of streets and alleys in the city limits. Clear brush out of alley right-of-ways, trim or remove dead, dying, deceased, or hazard trees on city right-of-ways. Plant trees at request of Shade Tree Commission. Make necessary asphalt patch repairs, crack seal streets, monitor street opening permits from Codes & Permits, patch Water and Sewer street openings. Maintains signs in city limits. Inventory, repair, replace, and install signs. Paint centerlines and skip lines on streets in city limits, also paint turn arrows, crosswalks, and school zones. Maintain traffic signals, annual signal inspection and relamping, downtown street light maintenance. City does not maintain residential street lights, that is Ohio Edison. Picks up dead animals in the city limits that are in the street, not on private property. Clean up debris in the street. Maintain State Routes in the city limits. Mow State Route fields and islands, in the city limits, city right-of-ways, road sides, and guard rails. Water and Sewer maintenance is in the same building.

Maintains all storm and sanitary sewers for the City of Strongsville. Provides maintenance of all sewers in the City of Fairview Park.

The Public Works Department includes the Forestry Division, Street Maintenance Division, and Traffic Control. The Utilities Department includes Sewer Maintenance Division, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Distribution Division, and the Water Treatment Plant. Services provided are snow removal, street sweeping, leaf pickup, removal of dead animals (in the street), pothole repair, tree planting and removal (area between curb and sidewalk only), street lights and street signs, and catch basin clean outs.
