Offers personal disaster preparedness information. Promotes individuals, especially those with access and functional needs, to identify a friend or family member who is trusted by the individual to check on them during a disaster or emergency incident. Offered through a partnership with Summit County Public Health, American Red Cross, County Animals Rescue and Evacuation, Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging, and Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board.
COTS coordinates the Central Ohio Regional Healthcare Emergency Preparedness (RHEP) Coalition and the Southeast/Southeast Central Ohio Healthcare Coalition (SEOHC). The RHEP Coalition and the SEOHC are public-private partnerships that facilitate, support, and strengthen healthcare and related entities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. Together, capabilities are built that can’t be achieved alone. COTS offers a Healthcare Incident Liaison (HIL) that leads a regional effort to build a disaster resilient healthcare system. The COTS HIL provides 24/7 situational awareness and resource coordination.
Notifes residents of Medina County of emergency situations via Medina County Emergency Alerts (MCEA). MCEA allows safety officials to send messages to the entire community, or a specific area within moments. These messages will inform residents of the situation and give instructions for action.
Provides free smoke alarms installed in homes and fire safety preparedness education.

The committee is made up of approximately 25 people from different organizations within the community. It plans and prepares for chemical emergencies in the local area. It also maintains and processes requests about chemicals stored in the county as it applies to the community right-to-know laws.
