Provides heated or a cooled place for people during power outages and/or when the weather is very cold or hot.

Provides temporary shelter with sleeping accommodations for people whose homes have been made temporarily unsafe or uninhabitable by a major disaster or large-scale emergency that has disrupted the normal functioning of a community and who are unable to find alternative living arrangements.

Provides an air conditioned place for people to go to when the weather is extremely hot and a heated space when the weather is extremely cold.

Offers a center to the public for cooling during extremely hot weather or warming during extremely cold weather.

We are only as strong as our community. Silver Birch was founded to fill the gaps of those community members who have nowhere else to go in times of need and crisis by providing funding opportunities, to not only help them fix or purchase what they need, but to also to create a sense of safety in our community and healing. There are those individuals who have been victimized that don’t qualify for other sources and may have to move out of our community to receive the help they need.The Silver Birch Foundation loves to collaborate with other agencies to make sure that our communities are strong and healthy. With the generosity of our community we have not only been able to help those that have been victimized but those that have come into other forms of hardships. The smallest amount can make a difference in the life of someone. We are impacting a number of people through foundation. The foundation was founded with the intent to grow and help older adults and people with disabilities that not have only been victims but have a need that cannot be met through other means.

Provides guidance and interaction, recreation, socialization, the arts, field trips and events.

Provides a cooling center during extreme heat conditions.

During times of extreme heat and/or power outages, SA will provide a cooling center or designate locations to be used as cooling centers for individuals/families to stop in and cool off. May provide water and light snacks if available.

Provides an air conditioned or heated place for people to go to when the weather is extremely hot or cold.

Provides an air-conditioned space, hot showers, and access to electrical device charging to the general public during extreme hot weather.

Offers a heated space for use during times of extreme cold and an air conditioned space during times of extreme heat during regular buisness hours.

Provides temperature controlled facilities for people who are temporarily at risk for exposure due to a power failure, fuel shortage, homelessness or other situations which make them vulnerable.

Opens doors to the homeless and the public to escape the extreme heat or cold.

Assists with finding information about relatives who are in an area where a federally declared disaster (such as hurricanes) has occurred in the United States. Must have had contact with the individual within three months prior to the disaster. Will not check on friends or property. Also offers a website where those affected by a disaster may list their name along with a short message about their safety. Those looking for information about these individuals can search the website for the information. Information provided about the person in the disaster area includes: first and last name, a brief message about their safety and date posted on website.

Provides SNAP benefits to households who have lost food, income or liquid resources due to a Presidentially declared disaster in situations where the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved activation of the program in Lorain County.
