Provides a support line for caregivers in need of immediate assistance or those who may have questions about what services you may be eligible for. Licensed professionals who answer the support line can: Tell you about the assistance available from VA; Help you access services; Connect you with the Caregiver Support Coordinator at a VA Medical Center near you, or just listen, if that's what you need right now.
Offers two separate programs: the Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS) and the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) which provide support and benefits for veterans and their family caregivers. Services may include mental health services, referral to VA and community resources, and access to health care insurance to designated family caregivers of veterans. Provides education and training on how to provide home care. Respite Care (in-home, at a VA center, or at an adult day care facility) is provided to relieve the caregiver from the constant challenge of caring for a chronically ill or disabled veteran at home. Counseling is offered for the caregiver if needed. A monthly stipend and beneficiary travel is only available to those in the PCAFC program.

Included are reimbursement for limited and temporary respite, counseling, caregiver training to assist in the areas of health, nutrition, financial literacy, and in making decisions and solving problems related to care giving roles. Support groups, information about services available to unpaid caregivers, and individual training for caregivers in the home are also offered.
