Provides outreach and intervention to those who have experienced an overdose on opioids (anytime in the past) or are active opiate users (disordered use of opioids) or are at risk of misuse of opioids. Referrals can be from a variety of sources such as family, friends, ER, law enforcement or the user themselves.

The QRT team will connect with individuals who have experienced an overdose, illicit drug event, or are struggling with addiction, and their family to provide information, assist with treatment options, and referral. Education on the use of Narcan, a prescribed opiate overdose reversal medication, will be given and a free Narcan kit will be provided.

SAMHSA provides an online directory of treatment programs in each state that treat addiction and dependence on opioids, such as heroin or prescription pain relievers.

This help-line is answered by addicts with six months or more of clean time. When no one is available to personally answer calls, a recorded message provides meetings and addresses for DASCNA area meetings.
