This program provides rapid, effective, and needed stress relief for law enforcement officers and their families, and to salvage useable horses from slaughter to be used in our At Risk Youth programs, other therapy programs or rehomed. This is provided at no cost to the participants. This program uses salvageable horses slated for slaughter to serve as a catalyst to help officers connect with their emotions again. Horses don’t judge. They offer unconditional love and trust and they are in tune and responsive to every movement of the body. They help the officer to be “in the moment”, leave the rest behind. The interaction between horse and rider stimulates mental and emotional growth. These creatures help the officers to get back in touch with a living being, which helps them to connect better with their spouses, friends and all of society. Officers work with salvaged horses to retrain them for use in our At Risk Youth Programs, other therapy programs or rehomed for a nominal adoption fee. The monies from horse adoptions will help support the Blue Lives program and allow the rescue of more horses.
