The PRC program in Ohio helps families overcome immediate barriers to achieving or maintaining self-sufficiency. The program provides benefits and services to families who are in need of help with essential support to become self-sufficient. The PRC Program is designed to: - Prevent families from having to apply for OWF cash assistance when a crisis arises; - Help families retain employment by enhancing job skills , overcoming barriers and providing short-term assistance or wage supplementation if necessary. - Provide for contingent needs by helping families with nonrecurring urgent problems that could, if left unattended, result in families needing long-term public assistance. - Support families receiving OWF with services to enable them to become self-sufficient. Examples of short-term assistance through PRC include: - Shelter and utility assistance - Transportation assistance - Employment Related Supportive Services.

The PRC Program is designed to provide benefits and services to needy families and low income employed families to help move out of poverty and become self-sufficient. PRC support is short term and is not intended to meet ongoing needs. If eligible for PRC benefits, a voucher is issued for the service and paid to then vendor providing the service. Voucher services available for car repairs, employment materials (tools/equipment, uniforms/footwear, professional licensure/testing fees), GED fee payment assistance, and utility assistance (primary heat source, electric, water).

Provides emergency assistance for services and items related to maintaining or obtaining employment. Transportation and Employment Assistance: Provides assistance with automotive repairs, parts, service, towing charges and so forth. Offers drivers’ education courses, drivers’ license fees and license plate fee assistance. Purchase of special tools and equipment needed for employment (such as wrenches for a car mechanic, work boots, tool belts, safety equipment, back supports and so forth.). Higher Education Assistance: Provides assistance with expenses related to higher education and/or training such as testing for State licenses, board certification, commercial driver’s license, costs of books, lab fees and registration fees. Relocation Assistance: Will assist with relocation expenses if the client must move for employment purposes. Relocation expenses for employment out of county or out of state only.
