The Sustainability Programs work to protect and maintain the natural environment, human health, and ecological health. It does this by working with partners such as SWACO and MORPC. These programs also minimize solid, infectious and hazardous waste in the community. It is also responsible for regulating and enforcing disposal of waste into approved facilities, including landfills. Investigates illegal dumping and environmental crimes.

Offers dispatch police officers within West Carrollton city limits to the scene of a crime in progress or a police emergency incident (call 911). Dispatches police officer to the scene of incidents where citizens need non emergency assistance (call 859-3688). Investigates crimes and reports of missing persons, fingerprints arrestees, and investigates incidents of alleged police misconduct.

Provides inspection or education on methods of clean-up regarding a variety of health hazards in the home environment. Topics include the hazards of: high grass over 8", trash & debris, stagnant water, insect infestation, lead, illegal dumping reporting in public and privately owned lots, rodent control, (inspector places poison in animal burrows outside the house), mold (especially regarding black mold that grows on water-soaked cardboard and unpainted wood), as well as inspections and licensing of public establishments in order to enforce existing health codes. Inspects tenants' homes for bedbugs and cites landlords but will not inspect homeowners. NOTE: Homeowners who request assistance with rodent control or home sanitation may be cited for corrective action if the health inspector decides the situation warrants.

Provides crime prevention and safety programs to Centerville residents in the areas of: bunco/fraud protection, property identification, child abuse prevention, juvenile delinquency prevention, commercial and residential security evaluations, child sexual assault prevention, shoplifting prevention, halloween safety, school safety, bicycle safety, vacation security checks, neighborhood watch programs, traffic safety, and child passenger safety.

Provides Environmental Programs to enhance the community. Environmental Enforcement provides two full-time sheriff's deputies dedicated to enforcing litter laws and investigating illegal dumping activity.

Accepts reports of people who are disposing of hazardous materials, trash, or other items in places other than those legitimately set aside for this purpose. Discarded items may include auto body parts, tires, boats, home appliances, and furniture in a dilapidated or inoperable condition.
