Provides legal advocacy, emotional support, and crisis intervention to victims and witnesses of a crime committed in Lake County. Answers calls from victims of domestic violence, sexual assult, robbery and other violent crimes.

Crisis Intervention, Information/Referral and Victim Advocacy are available free to any victims and their loved ones. Support groups for sexual assault victims and non-offending caregivers of sexually abused children are available periodically. Sexual Violence is our primary focus, but any victim of any crime is welcome to use our services.

Responsible for the prosecution of all adult and juvenile felony crimes committed in Richland County. Civil division is responsible for all county civil litigation and the collection of delinquent real estate taxes. Includes a specialized Victim Services division that helps all felony crime victims navigate through the judicial system. Also responsible for assisting felony victims of crime with compensation for losses, notice of court hearings, referrals to services and counseling, attendance in court to represent their interests and protect their rights.

Provides support and information to victims of domestic violence who are pursuing legal remedies. Assists with protection orders and offers support at trials.

Provides free, civil legal services to those in need in eight counties throughout central northeast Ohio. Offer screening for those seeking legal assistance; legal information, advice and representation for qualifying clients; community education on legal issues; public advocacy and awareness of the needs of low-income individuals and families; continuing legal education workshops and training; partnership with and training for community organizations.

Trained advocates provide emotional support, information, and offer accompaniment in the following areas for all survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking. *Law Enforcement Accompaniment: may include information on victim rights, developing a safety plan, or accompaniment during police reports *Legal Accompaniment: may include information, support, and accompaniment for civil or legal actions such as divorce, protection orders, applying for legal fee assistance, and emergency custody *Medical Accompaniment: offers accompaniment to hospital examinations and follow-up appointments for individuals that wish to seek or require medical attention *Title IX Accompaniment: may include assistance and accompaniment for students wishing to file Title IX complaints or seeking educational accommodations *Workplace Accompaniment: may include assistance and accompaniment for individuals wishing to file workplace related complaints or protection orders

Provides assistance from first response at the crime scenes to court support throughout the justice system and includes the following services: - 24-hour Crisis Intervention: -- Debriefing, group crisis intervention, and individualized crisis intervention. -- 24-hour crisis hotline. -- Crime scene response and death notification. - Court Advocacy: -- Personal advocacy and action planning. -- Court accompaniment and assistance. -- Police and incident report follow-up. -- Protection orders and victim impact statements. -- Victim Information Notification Everyday (VINE). -- Victim rights education. -- Information on and assistance with the Ohio Crime Victim Compensation Program application. -- Children Who Witness Violence Program/Drop In Center.

Legal services for victims of crime include: - Consultations. - Explanation of victims' rights. - Help filing a police report or talking to police. - Representation of victims throughout a criminal prosecution. - Filing protective orders. - Visas for human trafficking and victims of crime. - Asylum. - Aid in seeking repayment for damages that occurred as a result of a crime.

Provides support and assistance to victims of domestic violence needing help understanding the judicial process. Can answer questions regarding custody, criminal charges, protection orders, dissolution and divorce, and property issues. Advocates may attend legal and court appointments with the victim as requested. Advocates are NOT attorneys, but can assist with filing for Victim Compensation as well as provide screenings and referrals for legal aid.
