Partnering with Summit County Job and Family Services to provide one-on-one case management assistance with cash, food, or medical assistance/benefits. Case managers can assist with turning in documents, applying or re-applying for assistance, reporting case changes, and other case/eligibility questions. - At Helen Arnold, a child care case manager will also be on site to apply for or renew child care services, answer case or eligibility questions, scan documents and verifications, and more.

Assist families going through an abuse investigation. Coordinates forensic interview and medical exams with medical professionals to be performed on site.

Works to protect the rights of the homeless: monitors to assure that municipalities do not unfairly target the homeless or broadly enforce laws which would be harmful to the homeless; assists homeless persons who may have been the victims of hate crimes; coordinates information exchange regarding the rights of the homeless. The agency has experts on homeless voting available to assist with registration, get out the vote or in-person identification issues. Holds forums at shelters and drop-in centers to uncover problems, and responds with advocacy, letter-writing, and media attention to such problems.

Promote homeland security and public safety through the criminal and civil enforcement of federal laws governing border control, customs, trade and immigration.

Accepts and processes applications for legal name changes such as choosing a new name or changing the spelling of an existing name including changes resulting from marriage or adoption. SEOLS provides advice and representation for tenants who live in private or subsidized housing. Our goal is to preserve and improve the quality of the tenant’s home. Legal services are provided in the following areas: - Evictions - Fair housing - Security deposits - Issues with the condition of rental properties - Section 8 Voucher terminations - Mortgage foreclosures - Tax foreclosures.

Provides information, counseling and claims service to all honorably discharged veterans and their dependents concerning disability compensation, hospitalization, rehabilitation, pension, education, employment, and other benefits.

Provides assistance to ensure that support is paid and received by establishing and enforcing child support orders, establishing paternity, administering paternity tests, and facilitating payments.

Reviews applications for cases related to motor vehicle accidents where applicant is: - Being sued for money damages, - Did not have insurance at time of accident, - Has not been convicted or plead guilty, - Denies wrongdoing, AND - Is at risk of garnishment, and damages are at least $2,000.

Assists with housing and employment discrimination; provides referrals for job and student education grants; employment outreach; shelter for the homeless; and other short-term programs.

Maintains a voluntary listing of attorneys who are members of the Geauga County Bar Association. It is not a certified referral service. Clients may receive a free 1/2 hour initial consultation with an attorney who has no grievances pending against them and who has handled at least one case in the past three years in the area of practice the client seeks.

Offers information on programs and activities for senior citizens, such as social activities, planned trips, monthly speakers, and Tax Aid (income tax forms assistance from February through March). Also offers an eight hour course on defensive driving skills for seniors.
