Does not offer legal advice but will help client understand legal issues surrounding the complaint. Offers clients mediation as an alternative to an investigation.

Provides the following services: to ensure that children are supported by their parents, to encourage family responsibility, to reduce the costs of welfare to taxpayers. The agency establishes paternity for a child born to unmarried parents, locates an absent parent responsible for support, enforces an existing court-order-required payment of support, modifies existing support orders, establishes an order for medical insurance coverage. Also obtains withholding orders if the obligor is employed, draws Unemployment Compensation or Worker's Compensation, or has funds available in a financial institution. Uses the Federal and State Offset Programs to collect past-due support, reports the amount of past due support owed by an obligor to a credit reporting agency.

Provides free legal information, advice, and referral for a variety of legal questions and topics, including Medicare, Medicaid, living wills, durable powers of attorney for health care, housing, consumer problems, and other issues that affect older adults.

Investigates complaints of discrimination in employment, housing, credit, higher education, and public accommodations. May file a complaint on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, disability, age, military status, and marital or familial status. Mediation to help settle disputes dealing with discrimination may be offered to those who have filed a complaint.

Provides assistance to those with child support enforcement or establishment matters. Advice and representation may be available in custody matters when the child's primary caretaker is threatened with loss of custody to a person who presents an imminent or long-term threat to the safety or well-being of the child. Advice on divorce matters is available and representation may also be available in very limited circumstances, generally involving past domestic violence in the household. Cooperates with local private attorneys who will file simple, uncontested divorces for a fee. Advice and/or assistance with "pro se" (D-I-Y) court filings is also available on a variety of other family issues including visitation, contempt of previous court orders, and adoption defense.

A housing counselor will work with clients to identify rental resources that meet individual needs. Will review credit reports (or FABCO rental report), review income and household budget, create an action plan, and assist with an online search for current, available properties for rent. Can also review current leases, document any issues with landlords, and discuss options for landlord/tenant disputes. Will also help you file a fair housing compliant if necessary.

Provides class action lawsuit assistance for individuals who believe that they have been denied equal access to employment or that they have been treated unfairly as employees. Challenges all forms of racial, national origin, and sexual discrimination in the workplace, both private and governmental, including discrimination by federal, state, and local agencies. The Project is acclaimed for litigating complex and often protracted class action lawsuits on behalf of women and minorities.
Partnering with Summit County Job and Family Services to provide one-on-one case management assistance with cash, food, medical, and other assistance/benefits. Case managers can assist with turning in documents, applying or re-applying for assistance, reporting case changes, and other case/eligibility questions.

Provides information and case file review for those dealing with child support and child custody issues. If needed, this agency will provide their own forms for the client to fill out (depending on the situation).

Provides a wide range of programs for children who are victims of abuse or other acts of violence. Services include the following: forensic interviews at a child-friendly site where professionals conduct joint investigative interviews with child victims, crisis counseling and case management for victims and non-offending family members (available to children and families at all stages of the investigation and prosecution process). The program helps children and families cope and heal emotionally, animal-assisted therapy support for victims of violence. Provides practical information and support to the children and family about the investigation and court process, safety education that teaches young children about safe and unsafe touches and ways to seek help from trusted adults, and also provides on-site medical exams.

Computers are also available for completing some forms and calculating child support guideline worksheets. Does not provide legal advice. Cannot help individuals prepare paperwork, but can let people know in advance of their court appearance what is needed and what to expect when they come to court.
