Does not deal directly with issues of visitation or custody, offer or dispense legal advice, or modify spousal support.
Enforces child support rulings and seeks funds for late payments. Offers a program where non-custodial parents in arrears for child support payments can negotiate payment strategies. Provides willing individuals assistance in employment and regaining driver's license.
Called support order review or an administrative adjustment review (AAR), the support order modification process is the act of re-examining a support order to bring the order into compliance with the Ohio Child Support Guideline Worksheet. The monthly obligation recommended by the CSEA may increase, decrease, or remain the same compared to the current order. Either party may object to the recommendation if they disagree with the recalculated order.

Establishes and enforces court orders requiring support for unmarried adults (can be a child support order or alimony). Assists all recipients (unmarried juveniles or adults, or divorced persons) who may need modification of a support order. Takes whatever court or administrative actions are legally available and necessary to achieve compliance with court orders for child or spousal support. May include filing motions, attachment of wages, seizing assets, professional license revocation, prosecution under felony criminal non-support laws, and other actions as required. Ohio law allows that either parent may request a review and modification of the support order every 36 months or earlier if either parent has been unemployed at no fault of their own for 30 consecutive days, experienced at least a 30% change in income (beyond their control) for a period of six months, or becomes permanently disabled.

Reverse Paternity Actions
Provides assistance to those with child support enforcement or establishment matters. Advice and representation may be available in custody matters when the child's primary caretaker is threatened with loss of custody to a person who presents an imminent or long-term threat to the safety or well-being of the child. Advice on divorce matters is available and representation may also be available in very limited circumstances, generally involving past domestic violence in the household. Cooperates with local private attorneys who will file simple, uncontested divorces for a fee. Advice and/or assistance with "pro se" (D-I-Y) court filings is also available on a variety of other family issues including visitation, contempt of previous court orders, and adoption defense.
