The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) works to advance the health, rights, welfare, and quality of life of people receiving long term care services. State certified staff and volunteers investigate and resolve complaints for persons who live in nursing homes, assisted living homes, adult care facilities and individuals receiving home and community-based services. The Ombudsman provides information regarding Medicare, Medicaid, resident consumer rights and long term care quality options and alternatives. The LTCOP serves nine counties: Clark, Champaign, Greene, Logan, Montgomery, Preble, Darke, Miami, and Shelby.

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman provides a voice for consumers of long-term care services in nursing homes, county homes, residential care facilities, adult care facilities, adult foster homes and in private residences. They seek to identify, verify and resolve concerns regarding quality of life and quality of care in the above settings. Ombudsmen work with long-term care consumers, families, as well as staff and administrations of long- term care providers to resolve complaints in an objective, unbiased confidential manner. They answer requests for information regarding rights and choices in long-term care matters. They also work to educate consumers, staff and the general public on the rights of consumers of long- term care.
Provides services to improve the quality of life and quality of care for consumers of long-term care. These consumers include residents of long-term care in nursing homes, residential care facilities, adult care facilities, as well as those who receive community-based long-term care services like home care, transportation, or home delivered meals. Long Term Care Ombudsmen protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of long-term care residents and consumers by: - Investigating and resolving complaints - Promoting the enforcement of laws and regulations - Advising and recommending policy to state and federal government agencies on long-term care issues - Educating the public, consumers, providers and policy makers.
The LTC Ombudsman advocates for the rights of people living in nursing homes, assisted living, adult care homes or using long-term services and supports in the community in Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton and Warren counties. Home Options also offers ombudsman objective information to help with choosing a care provider in Southwest Ohio.
