Assist landowners with natural resource guidance and engineering improvements. On behalf of the Richland County Commissioners; manage the county stormwater and erosion control regulations permit generated; manage NPDS (National Pollutant Discharge System) Permit Program of Ohio EPA Reporting. Administer Pollution Abatement Program to all crop and animal producers to find solutions for non-point source pollution.

Provides assistance to landowners in most phases of soil and water conservation, planning and engineering. Services include:tile drainage, erosion control structure, ponds, drainage ditches, animal waste facilities, dikes, pumps, sod filter strips and surface drainage, farm planning, educational programs, and district projects such as seedling tree and windbreak program, fish sale; Also assists with county ditch maintenance program

Offers technical and financial help to reduce soil erosion, prevent water pollution, and maintain and improve the quality and productivity of farmlands, forests, and other natural resources in Kenton County, Kentucky.

The Public Works Department includes the Forestry Division, Street Maintenance Division, and Traffic Control. The Utilities Department includes Sewer Maintenance Division, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Distribution Division, and the Water Treatment Plant. Services provided are snow removal, street sweeping, leaf pickup, removal of dead animals (in the street), pothole repair, tree planting and removal (area between curb and sidewalk only), street lights and street signs, and catch basin clean outs.

Helps plan and create conservation easements to protect natural areas such as streams, wetlands, wildlife habitat, open space, or scenery. Conservation easements are voluntary legal agreements between landowners and the SWCD that place permanent restrictions on development and use of the land. The landowner maintains ownership of the property, along with the right to use the land, but not in ways that infringe on the conservation easement agreement. Property may be sold, leased, donated, or bequeathed, however the easement remains. Easements are generally associated with Federal, State, and/or Property tax incentives for the landowner based on the difference between the appraised land value with and without the easement.

Acquire vacant and abandoned tax delinquent property, and market that property to individuals, developers and non-profit agencies for development.

Presents both indoor and outdoor programs to public about our county's natural resources. Presentations are free of charge to schools and civic groups. Provides workshops and clinics on pond management, backyard conservation, and woodland management.

Acquires and maintains vacant properties located in the county (such as homes or other structures that have been abandoned) for strategic redevelopment. Assembles larger parcels of land for new development or for the purpose of creating green space or urban gardens and farms. Sells rehabilitated homes, as well as properties in need of renovation. Properties acquired are those that are in tax foreclosure, forfeited lands, handed over from banks, or deeded over from individuals. Will take inquires from those interested in donating property; not all property may be accepted for donations.

Funding is available through the Farm Bills programs. Also provides consultations on natural resource reviews for landowners and local governments. Services include environmental education programs, homeowner conservation practice assistance and the Toledo-Lucas County Sustainability Commission.
