Monitors the mosquito population and apply controls for mosquito reduction to reduce the incidence of mosquito biting and mosquito borne disease within Richland County.

Provides fire prevention and protection services for the City of Warrensville Heights. May offer periodic CPR classes for the community. Will provide carbon monoxide testing, if requested.

Responsible for sewer maintenance, water connections within the public right of way, and treatment of sewage and wastewater. In case of basement flooding, will send an inspector to the site to determine if blockage or break is in the main sewer line (for example, the storm sewer in the street) or on private property (from the curb to the house). Can only address issues with publicly owned sewer line. The sewer line from the curb to the house is the homeowners' responsibility. Where possible, will give the property owner advice on what is needed to remedy the problem. Takes complaints and reports from consumers concerning water and sewage service and will answer questions about billing. Prepares annual drinking water quality reports, and responds to inquiries about water pollutants. Reads water meters monthly.

Environmental Health licenses and inspects all businesses involved in retail edibles sales, including restaurants, groceries, schools, carry-outs, booths at festivals, vending machines, trailers, and retail stores. The office also investigates complains and possible foodborne disease outbreaks.

Provide Pack N Play portable cribs and Safe Sleep Survival Kits to families and caregivers that are unable to provide a safe sleep environment due to financial hardship. Survival Kit contains a sheet for the Pack N Play, a sleep sack for the infant, a bedtime storybook and educational materials for the parents. Family must come to Board of Health office to pick up Pack N Play and receive instruction on proper assembly and use before taking Pack N Play home.

Licenses and inspects all public pools, spas, and special-use pools. Inspectors check facility's overall compliance with the State swimming pool code.

Reduces the incidence of insects, vermin, and related diseases throughout Richland County by using education, rodenticides, adulticides, and code enforcement. **Note** They DO NOT have funds for bed bug extermination. This office ONLY gives out information on pest control.

Performs health and safety insepctions of housing units and assesses for rehabilitation. Performs lead based paint and lead pipe assessments as well as polution and soil contamination checks.

Protects Ashland County from foodborne illness. In the event that a foodborne outbreak does occur, epidemiologic action is taken by the Health District to control the outbreak and bring it to a conclusion. Also provides the licensing and inspection of all Food Service Operations, Vending Machine Operations, Retail Food Establishments, and Temporary Food and Mobile FSO/RFE within the jurisdiction of the Health Districts.

Sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency. Responds to inquiries regarding lead and lead poisoning. Provides information on lead poisoning and children, lead-based paint, a list of local and state contacts who can help, and other lead-related questions.

Handles reports of environmental emergencies involving the releases of oil, hazardous chemicals, or radioactive materials into the air, land or water. Examples may include chemical spills on highways and in waterways as well as toxic emissions from industry or other environmental crimes/violations. Provides an emergency response team that offers coordination and technical assistance for hazardous material containment. Works in conjunction with the federal environmental protection agency to ensure investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites.

Services include licensing and inspections of restaurants, grocery stores, vending machines, and mobiles, in addition to conducting foodborne illness investigations.

The Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR) handles the investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites and provides emergency response and oversight of environmental emergencies, spills, incidents and releases, as well as emergency preparedness assistance.

Reports and investigates food-borne illnesses. Answers questions about food recalls. Offers food safety education classes.

Lead is a naturally occurring element found in small amounts in the the earth's crust that can be toxic to humans and animals and cause adverse health effects. Homes, buildings, schools or daycare centers built before 1978 may contain some lead paint. Lead can damage nearly every system in the human body and has harmful effects on both adults and children. Lead poisoning is the greatest environmental threat to children in Ohio. FCPH offers a home lead inspection service for a fee.

Provides fire prevention / firefighting services. Provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) services with trained paramedics. Also offers periodic CPR classes, emergency preparedness, annual hydrant inspections, and unannounced yearly inspections of structures to ensure compliance with fire codes. Provides smoke detectors. Provides speakers about fire safety for public education programs. Children are also educated about fire safety issues through the use of a mobile fire safety house.

Receives and investigates complaints regarding the health and safety conditions of any public or inspected establishment in jurisdiction.

Offers carbon monoxide testing, blood pressure screening, fire prevention information and education, CPR classes, safety and first aid for babysitters, safety awareness seminars, home safety inspections, and fire extinguisher training. Offers free honey bee swarm removal and relocation by club members. Also offers removal of live honey bees from structures. NOTE: If insects are coming out of a hole in the ground or out of a paper or mud nest, they aren't honeybees and a beekeeper cannot provide assistance.

Hocking, Athens, and Perry County residents may be eligible for a one-time heat treatment to exterminate bed bugs from their homes. Households must have one minor child and be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: - Photo ID (head of household) - Social Security Card (head of household) - Income Verification: Pay Stubs 1Bank Statements (for all household members with income) - Proof of Homeownership or Rental Agreement.

Enforces public health laws and regulations for portable water wells, ponds, springs, cisterns, or hauled water storage tanks. These would include single water supplies that serve homes, small businesses, small churches, small mobile home parks, or communities with fewer than 25 residents. Also provides permits for the construction or alteration of a private water well, tests water samples, and conducts real estate water system evaluations by request.

Provide guidance through inspections to make sure school environment is conducive for learning through health and safety.
