Offers fire protection services and fire prevention education and information for the City of Broadview Heights. Provides fire prevention education in the schools and the community and participates in health fairs. Will perform carbon monoxide testing.

Provides daily maintenance and operation of all water and sewage infrastructure for the unincorporated areas of Geauga County. Duties include inspection and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, distribution and collection systems, testing and sampling at different points of the treatment process, and responding to customer complaints about water outages, sewer back-ups, etc. In case of basement flooding, will send an inspector to the site to determine if blockage or break is in the main sewer line (for example, the storm sewer in the street) or on private property (from the curb to the house). Can only address issues with publicly owned sewer line. The sewer line from the curb to the house is the homeowners' responsibility. Will give the property owner advice on what is needed to remedy the problem.

Oversees the construction of potable water wells, springs, cisterns, and hauled water storage tanks for homes and facilities that provide drinking water serving an average of less than 25 people at least 60 days a year and have fewer than 15 service connections. Provides water testing, issues permits for alteration, new construction or abandonment of private water systems, and assistance for maintenance of systems.

Issues permits to all public swimming pools and spas and routinely tests water chemistry for proper disinfectant levels. Ensures that proper and adequate safety equipment is on the premises. Posts inspection results, complaints and violations online for consumer use.

Investigates reports of health nuisances and determines follow-up actions. Will investigate the following: * Malfunctioning household sewage disposal/treatment devices * Garbage /refuse storage and removal * Public swimming pools, bathing places, camps, parks trailer parks, and other places of public gathering * Private water supply systems * Abandoned wells and cisterns Does not enforce any building or housing maintenance code. For those issues, call city/village offices or Wayne County Building Department.

Provides fire services for the residents and businesses of Bedford. Provides smoke detectors and batteries, offers blood pressure screening, CPR and AED training, carbon monoxide checks, fire extinguisher classes, fire safety inspections, car seat inspections and fire prevention information.

Provides testing of all local beaches and publishes the results on the agency web site. Notifies beach operaters of inspection results. Inspects all public pools for safety and health.

Inspects septic systems owned by individuals or businesses if a complaint is received. If requested, will test water from private wells for nitrates, lead and coliform bacteria. Provides information on disinfecting a well as well as other information pertaining to private water systems. Issues permits for new septic systems and water wells in Geauga County and inspects them upon completion. Handles the annual registration and bonding for sewage system contractors.

Accepts paint chips from Hamilton County residences and conducts testing to detect the presence and level of lead.

Provides public education on fire prevention, development and enforcement of fire safety codes, emergency disaster preparation and community fire protection for the city. Will do carbon monoxide testing in emergencies.

Establishes and enforces standards to protect air and water quality (including lead in water), as well as solid and hazardous waste management and cleanup. Insures proper handling of solid wastes and hazardous materials including radiative substances, toxic fumes, and explosives. Offers information and education about environmental issues such as air quality, water quality, water supply, and others. Handles non-emergency complaints about violations of state's environmental protection laws. Examples of complaints include (but are not limited to) smoke or heavy dust emissions from industrial facilities, illegal dumping, burning of trash or tires, drinking water issues, destruction or draining of wetlands, and discharging industrial or agricultural waste into water or storm sewers. Offers opportunities for citizens to participate in public advisory groups, public information sessions, and public hearings. Can provide information regarding lead in water including if the area is under an advisory and/or what actions one can take.

Environmental health division providing: food and water inspections; nuisance complaints; rabies control; residential lead hazard investigation. Nursing and community health division providing: communicable disease follow-up; immunizations for children and adults; foreign travel immunizations; flu shots; case management for children with medical handicaps; community health assessment and education; tuberculosis clinic; preventative health services. WIC program provides supplemental nutrition support to women, infants and children under the age of 5.

Provides fire prevention and protection services for the Village of Highland Hills. Offers smoke detectors for seniors.

Assistance is available for City of Newark residents who have a child living in the property that has an elevated blood lead level. Funding may be available for risk assessments, lead hazard control/abatement work and clearance of the housing unit.

Does lead testing of homes. Provides grants of up to $9,000 to assist with removal of lead detected upon inspection of eligible homes.

Provides fire prevention and protection services for the residents of Strongsville. Offers carbon monoxide testing, blood pressure screening, fire prevention information and education, CPR classes, safety and first aid for babysitters, safety awareness seminars, home safety inspections, and fire extinguisher training. Will speak to interested groups.

Provides free assistance to reduce or remove lead hazards from homes. Provides windows, doors, and siding.

Offers home and facility repairs for lead-based paint mitigation. Eligible repairs include window and door replacement; siding, soffit, and fascia enclosure; porch component repair, other items.
