Reduces the incidence of insects, vermin, and related diseases throughout Richland County by using education, rodenticides, adulticides, and code enforcement. **Note** They DO NOT have funds for bed bug extermination. This office ONLY gives out information on pest control.
Offers free honey bee swarm removal and relocation by club members. Also offers removal of live honey bees from structures. NOTE: If insects are coming out of a hole in the ground or out of a paper or mud nest, they aren't honeybees and a beekeeper cannot provide assistance.
Hocking, Athens, and Perry County residents may be eligible for a one-time heat treatment to exterminate bed bugs from their homes. Households must have one minor child and be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: - Photo ID (head of household) - Social Security Card (head of household) - Income Verification: Pay Stubs 1Bank Statements (for all household members with income) - Proof of Homeownership or Rental Agreement.

Surveillance is the cornerstone of the program. Other duties include: education, reduce and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, respond to service requests for mosquito problems, traps and monitors mosquito population to determine when mosquito spraying is needed.
Provides inspection and code enforcement of: plumbing, water, and sewer service; sewage; schools; water wells; camps; recreational areas; swimming pools; groceries; food services; trailer parks; and solid waste disposal. Also provides planning for land use with soil surveys and layouts; rabies control; and nuisance abatement.

Accepts complaints of infestations of insects, rodents, and other pests which may endanger the health of the community or cause damage to homes and other structures. Investigates and offers guidance regarding steps property owners can take to eradicate infestations.
Monitors and controls mosquitoes to prevent diseases.
Provides information on identifying, preventing and removing bed bugs. Offers trainings on bed bugs. If a renter has bed bugs, they should notify the landlord immediately. Notification must be in writing, and the tenant must have proof that the landlord or his or her agent received it. If the landlord refuses to hire a licensed exterminator after being notified in writing, contact 311or 645-3111 (for Columbus residents), Worthington Code Enforcement at 614-431-2424 (for Worthington residents) or Franklin County Public Health at 525-3160 (for all other Franklin County residents) to file a complaint.
