Provides fire prevention and protection services for the City of Shaker Heights. Offers a CO detector for loan, and provides photoelectric smoke detectors. Will speak about fire prevention and safety, assist with fire escape planning, and conduct a home safety assessment. Provides fire safety education through the use of a mobile fire safety house.

Twelve session program for male and female parents who have been court ordered to attend parenting classes, for Job and Family Services clients who have parenting classes as part of their case plan, and for parents who want training to help them be a better parent.

Offers youth courses that include babysitting education. Provides health & safety training for adults in the workplace, church, school or civic group and individuals. Topics included CPR, AED (defibrillator), first aid as well as blood borne pathogens. Choose from pre-scheduled classed or groups of 8 or more schedule their own time.

Provides an array of community events and classes. Topics may include: injury management, fall prevention, nutrition education, first aid, and more. Topics vary each month.

Provides swimming instruction for all ages and levels of ability, including infants and adults.

Offers crime prevention and safety programs in the areas of: fraud protection, child abuse prevention, juvenile delinquency prevention.

Provides general crime prevention and safety education and information, including but not limited to, bunco/fraud prevention, bicycle safety, child passenger safety, telecommunications safety, identity safety, and elder abuse prevention. Provides a school resource officer as well as substance abuse prevention and gang prevention information.

Offers a presentation for parent groups in which parents are taught to ask questions of the parents/caregivers of their children's playmates, to ascertain whether there is a gun on the premises and, if so, how it is secured. Actual experiences of other parents are stressed, rather than any political agenda. Supporting materials are distributed to participants.

Provides a class that teaches water safety and basic swim skills. Teaches basic swimming skills and rescue techniques as well as pool, beach, water park, diving and boating safety. Includes a family swim and handouts for parents at each class.

The Columbus Aquatics Center is home to six 25-yard swim lanes, an open area for casual swimming, a separate baby pool and a diving well with 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards. The center offers swimming lessons for beginners, intermediate and competition levels as well as lap swim and fitness classes.

Offers a safety course for children. Children participating in this program will gain a better understanding of safety as well as engage in personal interaction with safety forces. The three-hour program will be offered a few times throughout the summer for two different age groups. Each child must be accompanied by an adult to this program.

Teaches preschoolers about basic SAFETY issues:Traffic and bicycle safety, Gun dangers, Fire Safety, Stranger Danger, Water Safety, and Poison dangers, Car Seats and helmets, 911 and more. They will also receive a free bike helmet, and free fingerprinting provided by the Muskingum County Sherriff Dept. Program runs for four, one week sessions each summer, at two locations.

Division of Watercraft is responsible for boating safety, education, and law enforcement on all waters of the state. This statewide area includes the near-shore area along 451 miles of the Ohio River, approximately half the entire surface area of Lake Erie, more than 605 inland lakes, and over 60,000 miles of inland streams, rivers, and other waterways. The Division administers and enforces all laws regarding identification, numbering, titling, use, and operation of recreational boats on Ohio’s waters. It conducts water safety education programs and develops boating facilities on major water areas of the state.
