Responsible for the control and extinction of fires in urban and wilderness areas; the inspection of buildings and hillside property to ensure potential fire hazards; and the maintenance of equipment and trained firefighters necessary for a quick and efficient response to fires when they occur. Also, provides emergency medical services and ALS transportation to local hospitals.

Offers fire protection, non-emergency medical services, and fire prevention education for Whitehall. Provides smoke detectors. Speaks to local groups, businesses, and schools about fire prevention and life safety issues.

D.A.R.E. Program is held in all Clark County School Districts 5th and 9th grades. Other community educational programs include: Neighborhood Crime Watch and special presentations; Safety Village is held every June for those children going to attend kindergarten.

Manage and deliver coordinated transportation services to residents of Columbiana County. Provides transportation planning, rider training, trip brokerage and coordination, safe-driver training, and the coordination of all transportation options within the county. Specific attention to promoting accessibility, education and awareness to older adults, persons with disabilities, persons with low income, veterans and other underserved populations.

Helps provide financial assistance to cover day care costs on behalf of low income families so they may participate in OWF and/or education or training to maintain employment. This department also certifies day care providers to provide services through subsidized child care program.

Provides simulated miniature towns with scaled down roads, crosswalks, commercial storefronts, traffic signs, traffic signals, railroad crossings and school buses that young children can visit and ride tricycles through to learn about safety. The curriculum is varied and includes such topics as fire safety, safety belts, pedestrian safety, bike safety, bus safety, stranger awareness, and playground safety.

Teaches kindergarten aged children about fire, police, stranger danger.

Offers fire protection, emergency medical services, and fire prevention education. Provides open burn permits. Offers CPR, Automated Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid training throughout the year, and provides carbon monoxide testing. Speaks to local groups, businesses, and schools about fire prevention. Provides blood pressure screening and may provide smoke detectors and installation as long as supplies are available. Also provides lock boxes to older adults and persons with disabilities; box contains a house key so that emergency personnel do not have to break the door down when responding to a call. Provides special signs so that emergency personnel may see addresses better.

Licenses and inspects food service operations, vending machine operations, retail food establishments, and temporary food and mobile food operations as described above. Responds to consumer complaints regarding restaurant. Reports and investigates food-borne illnesses.

Provides fire protection and safety services for the City of Solon. Offers fire prevention and life safety education, CPR, and personal risk/injury assessments for the elderly. Enforces the state and local fire codes and city ordinances.

Provides a website for parents and caregivers with driving Ohio requirements, resources, and other educational information. Also offers "DRIVE to Live", a program to positively impact youth and engage in conversations about good decision-making.

Resources and instruction information to teach new drivers the skills they'll need to stay safe while on the road.

Offers a safety program offering bicycle safety, child passenger safety, pedestrian safety, and fire safety for preschoolers.

Provides programs to highlight the dangers of electricity in the home, at work, and in agricultural settings.

The Columbus Aquatics Center is home to six 25-yard swim lanes, an open area for casual swimming, a separate baby pool and a diving well with 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards. The center offers swimming lessons for beginners, intermediate and competition levels as well as lap swim and fitness classes.

Tobacco cessation program to help pregnant women quit smoking and stay tobacco free after baby is born. Women who enroll in the program, quit smoking and remain tobacco free after the baby is born receive free diapers for 12 months (voucher to Walmart each month).

Provides fire fighting and rescue operations for the City of Euclid. Provides smoke detectors and/or batteries to eligible residents who own their homes and will install detectors, and also replace batteries if necessary, in the home.

Provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible low income families

Offers fire protection, emergency medical services, and fire prevention education for Franklin Township. Provides and installs smoke detectors, offers CPR classes, and provides carbon monoxide testing. Speaks to local groups, businesses, and schools about fire prevention.

Provides fire protection services and fire prevention information for the community of Parma Heightts. Supplies smoke detectors to residents living in single family houses. Offers CPR instruction to interested groups in the community.

Prevention programs are also available. Among those available are bicycle helmet wear and learning how to avoid falls (Stepping On program).

Conducts inspections which offer guidance regarding child passenger safety seats and the law, choosing a car seat that is appropriate for a particular child's height and weight, correct car seat installation, and restraining a child in a car seat.

Provides no-cost car seats through the Ohio Department of Health's "Ohio Buckles Buckeyes" program. Has convertible seats for ages 6 months up to 5 years old, and booster seats for ages 5 to 8 years old. NO INFANT CAR SEATS. Provides inspections of child car seats for recall, proper fit for the child and proper installation in the car.

Provides recreational boating safety tips, investigates consumer complaints about boats, issues product safety recalls, and maintains a database of boats that have been recalled. This agency regulates recreational watercraft. Boating recalls are NOT covered by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
