Provides no-cost car seats through the Ohio Department of Health's "Ohio Buckles Buckeyes" program. Has convertible seats for ages 6 months up to 5 years old, and booster seats for ages 5 to 8 years old. NO INFANT CAR SEATS. Provides inspections of child car seats for recall, proper fit for the child and proper installation in the car.

Provides classes about the installation and use of child car seats and booster seats. Offers free car seats and booster seats at the end of the program for income eligible class participants. Provides car seat inspections to check and see if child car seats and booster seats to ensure safe and secure installation.

May provide children's safety seats for eligible families as well as an educational session on proper use and installation of the child safety seat.

Provides supplemental food vouchers, nutrition education, counseling, support and referral services to eligible women, children, fathers, and kinship caregivers. Nursing mothers are provided with information and education on breastfeeding. Also offers speakers who discuss the program and the value of good nutrition and breastfeeding. During the summer, also provides a supplemental voucher to each client for fruits and vegetables from selected local growers (Farmers' Market Nutrition Program) - these are available while supplies last. Through the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes Program, HAPCAP offers free child safety seats and booster seats to eligible families in Athens County.

Provides assistance to qualified individuals and families. Intended to meet the local needs of families to overcome immediate barriers and help them become and stay self-supporting. Assistance available includes: Employment related expenses such as: -Vehicle repairs. - Driver's license fees (new or expired, does not include reinstatement). - Reimbursements for tools, equipment, uniforms, shoes/boots, and so forth. - Fingerprinting costs. - Gas vouchers for new employment (until receipt of first paycheck). Shelter/Housing expenses such as: - Rent or deposit for forestalling court-ordered evictions in rentals. - Bills to forestall utility shutoffs (gas, electric and water). - Fuel oil and propane purposes. - Emergency shelter due to fire, natural disaster, states of emergency, or domestic violence situations. Kinship assistance includes: - For a new kinship caregiver within six (6) months of a child moving into the home: Furniture and other items needs to care for children in the home. - Once a child(ren) has been with a kinship provider for more than six (6) months: There is an available reimbursement of child care costs up to four (4) months a year.

Safe Kids Ohio is led by Akron Children's Hospital, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources to assist in achieving our common goal: keeping your kids safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.

Child car seat inspections are provided by certified seat technicians from the health department by appointment. Also can help provide you with a no cost seat if: - Your child meets weight and height requirements for available seats - You attend, participate in, and complete a car seat class - Your child is WIC or Medicaid eligible.

Offers free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds. Earn While You Learn class "Understanding Pregnancy." Free new baby merchandise, for example onesies, bottles, sleepers, handmade blankets, diapers & wipes. Complete all 5 sessions receive a car seat or stroller.

Provides infant clothing (up to size 4T), infant formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, cribs, hygiene products for children, cribs, crib mattresses, and new car seats. Also supplies newborn layettes.

Provides comprehensive home visiting services in Defiance, Fulton, Henry, and Williams Counties. This service is for pregnant women and families with children up to age 3 who are income eligible.

Car seat checks- learn to install and use, access to low cost car seats; Home safety- receive safety items such as gates, outlet covers, etc; Bike helmets provided at a discount

Provides size-appropriate seats for children that buckle into passenger vehicles. Seats are fitted to the child and installed by a technician. Offers front-facing, high-backed seats as well as booster seats for older children. Distribution includes safety education and installation of the seat in vehicle.

Provides material items such as maternity clothing; diapers and wipes; baby and toddler clothing; formula; large items like cribs, carseats and pack-n-plays; and various other baby and toddler materials. Uses a voucher system to provide the items to clients. Offered on an emergency basis, as approved by staff, to others.

Offers full pediatric office visits for well and sick care. Offer an array of services for children including physical exams, immunizations, vision & hearing testing, developmental screening, autism screening, nutrition screening, dental assessment, referral information, social services assesments. Also offer car seats when available.

Provides prenatal and postnatal services utilizing an Earn While You Learn pregnancy and parenting education program. Baby items including cribs, car seats, diapers, clothing, etc are earned as lessons are completed. Group classes on safe sleep, preventing child sexual abuse, and shaken baby syndrome are also offered. Staff are certified as child passenger safety technicians and can check for proper installation of car seats.
