Medicare workshops are offered providing information regarding insurance, including Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplements and medical bills, Medicare enrollment and Medicare classes.

Provides information and answers questions on Medicaid Advantage plans (plans for those who qualify for both Medicaid and Medicare). Some plans offer standard Medicare medical benefits as well as additional coverage and services that meet the unique needs of its members. Extra benefits may include allowances for over-the-counter drugs, financial assistance with housing, utilities, food and more. Not all plans offer extra benefits, and extra benefits may vary by plan.

Provides various programs from breastfeeding support, WIC programs, tobacco cessation/education and birth control counseling, and blood tests.

Answers questions and provides information on securing Medicare coverage, insurance choices, Medicare rights and protections, payment denials and appeals, complaints about care or treatment and Medicare bills.

Determines eligibility for Medicare, a medical insurance program for those who qualify.

Provides information on Medicare options for residents of Carroll, Stark, and Tuscarawas counties. Individuals may call to request a packet to be mailed to them to provide details on their medication and so forth, and return the packet to receive a personalized report of options available.

Provides educational information about Medicare and enrollment assistance. OSHIIP also travels the state to conduct community outreach activities.

Offers basic information on Medicare to interested individuals and caretakers. Offers individual one-on-one appointments and group seminars.

Appeals Medicare denials of coverage for long-term care or home care services. Represents clients in conflicts over Medicare coverage with nursing home and home care providers. Provides information to clients and family members about Medicare nursing home coverage and Medicare HMOs. Sponsors seminars on Medicare reform for professionals in the field.

Provides guidance on how and when to enroll in Medicare. Review types of available Medicare plans, assist with selecting the best plan for the client after reviewing their health needs, budget and doctor and prescription drug list. This service is provided to the client at no cost.

Provides Certified Application Counselors who connects consumers to Medicare and Medicaid and facilitates enrollment in both programs.

Provides one on one counseling via phone or in person to review health insurance options, with the special emphasis on those within a few months of Medicare eligibility and all Medicare beneficiaries during the open enrollment period.

Provides older adults and their families with services and supports needed to stay as independent as possible. Comprehensive assessments are performed and referrals to services are made based on that assessment. Programs include Medicare, Medicaid, utility, and housing forms assistance when needed.

Provides health insurance program that provides hospital and medical insurance for individuals age 65 and older, disabled individuals younger than age 65 who have been entitled to Social Security disability benefits for at least 24 months, and insured workers and their dependents who need dialysis or a kidney transplant may qualify. -Persons who apply for Social Security benefits at age 65 are automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A (free hospital insurance). They may choose to sign up for Medicare Part B (medical insurance). A monthly premium for Part B is deducted from the monthly benefit check, unless low income qualifies the person to Qualified Medicare Beneficiary or Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary aid. -$600 credit for prescription assistance, in the form of a debit card, is available to income-eligible persons with Medicare Part A and/or B who don't have other outpatient prescription drug coverage. -Medicare informational handbook available. -24-hour helpline for information on health plans, prescription drug programs, nursing homes, and Medicare physician referral.

Provide Ohio Medicare beneficiaries, and those who help them, with free, objective health insurance information and other helpful services. This assistance is available through a statewide toll-free phone number, local volunteers and sites, a speakers bureau, and free literature.

Provides free community and professional education on Medicare. Also provides individual consultation and advocacy to assist older adults and their caregivers with concerns regarding Medicare, like prescription drug assistance and help with potential cases of fraud. Services are provided in person and on the phone.
