Provides education on services available for seniors and how to access those services. Also Assists with forms and applications for Medicare, Heating Assistance, or Supplemental Food Programs to help the individual stay in their home.

Provide senior adults with daily recreational activities, educational events, lunch, socialization, and fitness programs. Supportive services division for Trumbull’s retired and elderly population provides social work and counseling, prescription assistance and Medicaid/Medicare counsel, emergency assistance program, and free income tax assistance through AARP during the months of February through April each year. Assists clients who are over the age of 60 determine which kind of supplemental insurance best fits their need when they become eligible for Medicare. Also keeps clients informed of other programs and services available in Preble County including Social Security, home loans, and other information of interest to seniors.

This program facilitates access to services, programs, and benefits for seniors and caregivers. Provides insurance counseling to Medicare and Medicaid.

Offers Medicare information, answers general questions, provides printed materials, and makes referrals to other federal agencies serving Medicare recipients and their families.

Help seniors with Medicare billing, assistance with Medicare Part D, Open Enrollment, finding a drug plan or supplement that meets their needs, or if they just have questions.

Help in understanding and dealing with Medicare is available through the Clinic. Medicare consultations are led by OSHIIP certified counselors.

Appeals Medicare denials of coverage for long-term care or home care services. Represents clients in conflicts over Medicare coverage with nursing home and home care providers. Provides information to clients and family members about Medicare nursing home coverage and Medicare HMOs. Sponsors seminars on Medicare reform for professionals in the field.

Provides information and counseling regarding MyCare Ohio, a managed care program for Ohioans who receive both Medicaid and Medicare benefits. MyCare Ohio includes all of the services that are covered in the following home and community-based Medicaid waivers: PASSPORT, Choices, Assisted Living, Ohio Home Care, and Transitions Carve-out.

Provides Certified Application Counselors who connects consumers to Medicare and Medicaid and facilitates enrollment in both programs.

Provides information and referrals to individuals enrolled or eligible for Medicare and supplemental insurance, referrals to area senior service providers, and support services such as one-on-one help assessing needs, filling out applications, referring or linking to service agencies or programs, scheduling or assisting with appointments and following up to make sure that the help needed has been obtained.

Helps those that are over the age of 65 and eligible people with disabilities and people of any age with permanent kidney failure with United States Government Medicare health insurance. Hospital insurance and supplementary medical insurance are also available. Offers recipients with low incomes and few assets may be eligible for extra help signing up for a Part D drug plan.

OSHIP certified volunteer and staff counselors assist people with enrollment for Medicare Part D, Rx plans, and offers comparisons for supplemental policies and Advantage plans. Notary is also available.

Provides free community and professional education on Medicare and MyCare Ohio. Also provides individual consultation and advocacy to assist older adults and their caregivers with concerns regarding Medicare, like prescription drug assistance and help with potental cases of fraud. Services are provided in person and on the phone.

OSHIIP's purpose is to provide Ohio Medicare beneficiaries, and those who help them, with free, objective health insurance information and other helpful services. This assistance is available through a statewide toll-free phone number, local volunteers and sites, a speakers bureau, and free literature. All OSHIIP services are FREE. The program is funded by a Federal grant and the State of Ohio, and administered by the Department of Insurance. OSHIIP also provides a number of free publications from Ohio and the U.S. government. Volunteer opportunities are available to all willing to help.
