Nutrition education program for women, infants, and children. In addition to nutrition education, participants in the program receive monthly food benefits that include foods that help support growth and development (milk, eggs, beans, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and peanut butter). Nutrition education provided through the WIC program is focused on meeting nutritional needs during pregnancy and until age 5. Common topics covered in WIC appointments include: healthy recipe ideas, cooking basics, family meal time, the roles of vitamins and minerals, and the recommended portions for certain age groups. Our WIC program also provides breastfeeding education and helps link program participants to medical care and community resources. Women who are pregnant or who have recently had a baby, infants, and children under age 5 are eligible for the program if they receive a form of Ohio Medicaid, or if their household income is less than 185% of the poverty level.

Professional educators provide community programs and screenings to promote health and wellness. Programs include Women in Touch, Healthier at Home, Resource Mothers, Fatherhood Support, Centering Pregnancy, Hispanic Health, Stepping Out, Prescription Assistance and community health events for men and women. Screenings include blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, osteoporosis, body fat, balance, and carbon monoxide.

Food Assistance benefits are issued through the Ohio Direction Card, an electronic debit card that can be used to purchase eligible food items. Food Assistance helps raise the level of nutrition, expand buying power, and safeguard the health and well-being of individuals in low-income households.

Provides financial assistance to individuals and families: Ohio Works First (OWF), Prevention, Retention and Contingency (PRC) and Disability Assistance (DA) and provides assistancewith purchasing food products for low income households.

Those receiving any type of benefit from the ACJFS are strongly encouraged to contact the agency via phone or internet, versus appearing in person. Provides supplemental food vouchers, nutrition education, counseling, support and referral services to eligible women, children, fathers, and kinship caregivers. Nursing mothers are provided with information and education on breastfeeding. Also offers speakers who discuss the program and the value of good nutrition and breastfeeding. During the summer, also provides a supplemental voucher to client for fruits and vegetables from selected local growers (Farmers' Market Nutrition Program) - these are only available while supplies last.

Provide Pack N Play portable cribs and Safe Sleep Survival Kits to families and caregivers that are unable to provide a safe sleep environment due to financial hardship. Survival Kit contains a sheet for the Pack N Play, a sleep sack for the infant, a bedtime storybook and educational materials for the parents. Family must come to Board of Health office to pick up Pack N Play and receive instruction on proper assembly and use before taking Pack N Play home.

The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) helps income eligible pregnant and breastfeeding women, women who recently had a baby, and infants and children up to the age of 5 years who are at medical or nutritional risk.

Federally-funded supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children. Helps eligible pregnant and breastfeeding women, women who recently delivered a baby, and children who are at health risk due to inadequate nutrition.

Provides funds for the purchase of food. Benefits are automatically added monthly to a debit card, which is used for food shopping (those who are homeless or have zero income may be eligible for one month expedited benefit within 48 hours). Benefits that are not used in a month may be carried over to the next month, up to one year.

WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that provides breastfeeding and lactation support, milk, eggs, whole grains (such as bread, rice, tortillas), beans, juices, cereals, peanut butter, baby foods and vouchers for fruit and vegetables at no cost to eligible participants. Cheese and canned fish are available to women who are fully breastfeeding.

Permanent Supportive Housing program for chronically homeless adult's with disabilities.

Open to women who are pregnant or have given birth within the past six months, breastfeeding women up to one year after giving birth, and infants and children up to five years old.
