Provides free Naloxone/Narcan Kits and Fentanyl Test Strips. Naloxone is a prescribed nasal inhalant that stops and reverses an opioid overdose. Opiates can include fentanyl, heroin, methadone, percocet, vicodin, and oxycontin. Also has an opioid rescue box/opioid overdose emergency kit outside on the building that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Overdose education and naloxone medication distribution program. Educates individuals on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a drug overdose, and the steps necessary for reversal.

Provides harm reduction services for individuals who inject drugs. Syringe services are offered once per week in person. Harm reduction supplies are available 24 hours/7 days a week by vending machine outside of rear entrance.

Provide Pack N Play portable cribs and Safe Sleep Survival Kits to families and caregivers that are unable to provide a safe sleep environment due to financial hardship. Survival Kit contains a sheet for the Pack N Play, a sleep sack for the infant, a bedtime storybook and educational materials for the parents. Family must come to Board of Health office to pick up Pack N Play and receive instruction on proper assembly and use before taking Pack N Play home.

The Health Department, Muskingum Behavioral Health, and Mental Health and Recovery Services Board continue to partner for Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided With Naloxone); an overdose prevention and education program. This program is for opioid users who are at risk of death from overdose, and family and friends of those who are at risk of death from overdose. Muskingum Behavioral Health will provide training and ZMCHD will distribute kits containing the life-saving medication.

Provides harm reduction items that decrease the chance of opiate overdose and that may prevent illness such as HIV. Includes wound care kits (gauze, non-stick pads, antibiotic ointment, and saline), safer sex kits (condoms and lubricant), take home tests (fentanyl, pregnancy, and HIV), personal sharps container, and safer use kits for smoking (bubbler/pipe, alcohol wipes, screens, mouthpiece) as well injection (cooker, filters, alcohol pads, antibiotic ointment, saline, and bandages.

Crawford-Marion ADAMH offers free Narcan training and kits for Crawford and Marion County residents. ADAMH also provides free Deterra bags (prescription drug disposal bags). Please contact us for more details.

Provides anonymous, need-based syringe exchange. Participants receive needed syringes and can receive bleach kits, condoms, antibiotic cream, fentanyl test strips, referrals, and information. Will also test individuals for HIV/AIDS, especially regular clients (encourged to get tested every 3 months).

Kit includes 2 vials of medication, 2 nasal attachements, an instructional DVD, and a small tip sheet on how to recognize an overdose. Fentanyl Test Strips are offered at Licking Memorial Urgent Care locations in Newark, Pataskala and Granville. Individuals may visit an Urgent Care and ask for the strips at the front desk. The test strips are provided with a contact number for Shepherd Hill, the treatment center associated with Licking Memorial Hospital. Shepherd Hill offers a variety of services for individuals who are struggling with drug addiction.

Coalition led by the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board. Members are health professionals, parents, educators, elected officials, merchants, business members, police, administrators, and students who are concerned about alcohol, tobacco, and drug use among school-age children in Trumbull County. ASAP Opiate Task Force meets monthly. Focus are youth education, identifying neighborhoods experiencing high rates of drug related crimes and overdoses, providing community education, and providing education to medical professionals.

Provides an anonymous, safe needle exchange for those individuals with substance use disorder issues. Accepts used needles that are secured and safely transported in exchange for new needles. Provides access to HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and Hepatitis C testing, naloxone, and referrals to treatment (if requested).

Substance Use Disorder services include one-one-one counseling with a drug addiction counselor; administration of Vivitrol is available from a healthcare provider: Naloxone doses available to prevent overdose deaths. Counseling provides individuals with an opportunity to actively pursue emotional healing and personal growth, in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Although our difficulties are unique, we all face trials of many kinds. Facing these trials, with the support of a counselor, can be an empowering experience. Recovery Support Group SMART Recovery is FREE and is held Tuesday evening. Support group help people learn self-empowering tools and members will provide support for each other in recovery. The goal of SMART Recovery is for you to achieve a healthy, positive and balanced lifestyle so you can conquer new challenges. Groups are held at the Knox County Community Health Center - Mount Vernon, Ohio location (Health Department) in the Conference Room on Tuesday evening at 6 pm. This group meets for about an hour and is open to anyone, no matter where they are at in their journey to recovery. There is no need to pre-register, and there is no fee to attend the support groups.
