Provides a kit that contains strips that test for the presence of fentanyl in an opiate, naloxone, a prescribed nasal inhalant that reverses an opioid overdose. Kit includes 2 vials of medication, 2 nasal attachements, an instructional DVD, and a small tip sheet on how to recognize an overdose. Will receive instruction on how to recognize and respond to an overdose (as well as distinguish between different types of overdose) and how to administer intranasal Naloxone to reverse the opioid overdose.

C-HARM-ED is a place where people who are affected by drug use can go for information, to be tested for hepatitis and HIV, to be immunized against hepatitis A and B, to get information on recovery services, for referrals to medical services, and to exchange used syringes for new sterile ones. Anonymity is guaranteed by the program. People who come in to the walk-in sessions are not required to give their names or any other personal information. No one will be asked why they started using drugs or to volunteer any information they aren’t comfortable providing, and there are no charges.
Accept old, expired, used prescription and over the counter medications. Does not accept needles, syringes, liquids or inhalers.

Substance Use Disorder services include one-one-one counseling with a drug addiction counselor; administration of Vivitrol is available from a healthcare provider: Naloxone doses available to prevent overdose deaths. Counseling provides individuals with an opportunity to actively pursue emotional healing and personal growth, in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Although our difficulties are unique, we all face trials of many kinds. Facing these trials, with the support of a counselor, can be an empowering experience. Recovery Support Group SMART Recovery is FREE and is held Tuesday evening. Support group help people learn self-empowering tools and members will provide support for each other in recovery. The goal of SMART Recovery is for you to achieve a healthy, positive and balanced lifestyle so you can conquer new challenges. Groups are held at the Knox County Community Health Center - Mount Vernon, Ohio location (Health Department) in the Conference Room on Tuesday evening at 6 pm. This group meets for about an hour and is open to anyone, no matter where they are at in their journey to recovery. There is no need to pre-register, and there is no fee to attend the support groups.

The Harm Reduction Clinic is held every Wednesday and offers a one for one syringe exchange up to 30 syringes, naloxone distribution and training, Hepatitis A/B immunizations, Opioid Navigator and peer counseling services. Additionally, community naloxone distributions will occur at the following: New Marshfield Community Center- 3rd Monday of every month, 1:30pm-2:30pm Walmart (E State Street)- 1st, 2nd, and 4th Monday of every month, 1:30-2:30 pm.
