Safe Point Program | Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department

The goal of the Safe Point program is to reduce the rapid rise in disease by providing clean needles along with education about risks of sharing needles. The program is not designed to merely distribute needles, rather the needles are a way to educate participants so they can be encouraged to seek treatment and/or assisted in navigating the medical or mental health systems during their road to recovery. Needles currently on hand have all been donated. Program participants will not be arrested for drug paraphernalia-related issues when coming to or going away from SafePoint; however, drug use on or near the premises is prohibited.

Also provides supplies such as menstrual products, safe sex kits, fentanyl test strips, sharps containers, resource packets, and first aid/wound care. Vending machine provided by Summit County Public Health.

Naloxone Training | Franklin County Public Health

Franklin County Public Health in partnership with Columbus Public Health, Maryhaven and Central Ohio Hospital Council provides free naloxone trainings (in-person and virtual) where participants learn about the different types of opiates, signs and symptoms of an opiate overdose, and how to administer naloxone. At these community trainings, participants can receive a free naloxone kit, upon completion of the training (limited quantities may be available). Naloxone kits are available for community participants only. Kits will be mailed to those taking the virtual trainings. Agency participants will not receive "free" naloxone kits.

Project Dawn (DEATHS AVOIDED WITH NALOXONE) | Tuscarawas County Health Department

Provides training on how to administer naloxone (also known as Narcan) to oneself or others. Naloxone is a prescribed nasal inhalant that reverses an opioid overdose. Clients also learn how to identify the physical signs of an opioid overdose. Upon completion of the training, clients receive a kit that includes two (2) vials of medication, two (2) nasal attachments, an instructional DVD, and a tip sheet on how to recognize an overdose. Kits can be requested to be mailed directly to a person's home.

Fentanyl Test Strip Distribution Programs | Licking Memorial Health Systems

Fentanyl Test Strips are offered at Licking Memorial Urgent Care locations in Newark, Pataskala and Granville. Individuals may visit an Urgent Care and ask for the strips at the front desk. The test strips are provided with a contact number for Shepherd Hill, the treatment center associated with Licking Memorial Hospital. Shepherd Hill offers a variety of services for individuals who are struggling with drug addiction.

Will receive instruction on how to recognize and respond to an overdose (as well as distinguish between different types of overdose) and how to administer intranasal Naloxone to reverse the opioid overdose. All training will be provided onsite or at a community partner location.

Provides anonymous, need-based syringe exchange. Participants receive needed syringes and can receive bleach kits, condoms, antibiotic cream, fentanyl test strips, referrals, and information. Will also test individuals for HIV/AIDS, especially regular clients (encourged to get tested every 3 months).
