FEMA opened a Disaster Recovery Center at The Journey Galena to serve residents of Delaware and surrounding counties. Individuals in need of assistance following a presidentially declared disaster designated for Individual Assistance now have the ability to apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov. There is also a hotline provided for those unable to apply online. A Local Resource tool allows survivors to find vital community resources based on their geographic location by entering their address and/or ZIP code. Users can search for police and fire stations, urgent cares and hospitals by proximity to their location. Disaster news feeds are also available to help individuals, families and businesses prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. DisasterAssistance.gov includes an anonymous questionnaire that helps survivors quickly identify a personalized list of possible types of available assistance. The questionnaire is dynamic, meaning it tailors recommendations in real time based on how survivors answer each question. Survivors can sort, tag and find more information on specific forms of assistance, as well as print and email results.

Provides disaster relief and recovery services for individuals and families affected by disasters. Services may include financial assistance for emergency food, clothing and shelter. May provide assistance with security deposits and long-term recovery supplies, as needed. Crisis counseling is offered to disaster victims and their families. Also provides community disaster preparedness planning and collects monetary donations in the event of a disaster.

Agency is set up to be a community disaster service center/hotline to get information out to the community in case of an emergency.
