The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

The chapter is prepared at all times to provide emergency assistance to victims and to emergency workers. Such preparedness requires recruitment, training and utilization of appropriate numbers of volunteers. It also requires continual planning and coordination of resources by both chapter and community, to meet, in the shortest possible time, the temporary, emergency human needs created by natural and man made disasters.

Offers 24 hour emergency assistance to individuals affected by a disaster such as a home fire, tornado or flood. Assists individuals who have had a single-family disaster with emergency food, clothing, shelter, medical care and supplies. Also assists individuals and communities affected by a major disaster such as flooding, tornado or man-made disasters. Services include opening shelters, providing meals and drinks and fulfilling emergency needs.

Coordinates and provides emergency assistance in times of disaster. Provides preparedness information about major disasters and large-scale emergencies. Coordinates with other agencies in disaster situations, and develops action plans for emergency response. Sets up temporary emergency shelters in the community during disasters.

Provides food, clothing, and shelter to disaster victims including disasters when homes have been destroyed or made unlivable due to physical calamity such as fire, flood, and windstorm. Offers general emergency assistance to disaster victims.

Works with state and local officials to determine the scope of disasters and estimate needs. Makes disaster aid available to state and local governments, organizations and individuals. The types of aid offered depends on the disaster. Seeks to prevent damages from disasters. Manages the National Flood Insurance Program.

Oregon Disaster Tragedy Service Center is open daily staffed with health care professionals, spiritual case workers, mental health professionals, caseworkers. additional support referrals.

Provides immediate service to the disaster clients and/or local authorities in any disaster such as fire, flooding, tornado, or chemical spill.

Individuals in need of assistance following a presidentially declared disaster designated for Individual Assistance now have the ability to apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov. There is also a hotline provided for those unable to apply online. A Local Resource tool allows survivors to find vital community resources based on their geographic location by entering their address and/or ZIP code. Users can search for police and fire stations, urgent cares and hospitals by proximity to their location. Disaster news feeds are also available to help individuals, families and businesses prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. DisasterAssistance.gov includes an anonymous questionnaire that helps survivors quickly identify a personalized list of possible types of available assistance. The questionnaire is dynamic, meaning it tailors recommendations in real time based on how survivors answer each question. Survivors can sort, tag and find more information on specific forms of assistance, as well as print and email results.

Provides disaster relief and recovery services for individuals and families affected by disasters. Services may include financial assistance for emergency food, clothing and shelter. May provide assistance with security deposits and long-term recovery supplies, as needed. Crisis counseling is offered to disaster victims and their families. Also provides community disaster preparedness planning and collects monetary donations in the event of a disaster.

FEMA opened a Disaster Recovery Center at The Journey Galena to serve residents of Delaware and surrounding counties. Hours are 7:30am until 6:30pm May 28, 2024 through June 8, 2024.Representatives from FEMA and the Small Business Administration will be present to help people apply to their respective assistance programs and to assist with any issues involving survivors' applications to these programs.This center will close Saturday, June 8 at 6:30pm. Provides the Ohio Emergency Operations Center to better coordinate the state's response during a disaster or emergency. Operates in a facility that is independent of outside power supplies and contains an emergency operations room with an adjoining dispatch facility.

Establishes, coordinates and sustains partnerships throughout Fairfield County to prepare for emergencies and to help the community return to normalcy when they occur. Services include (but are not limited to) medical emergency preparedness, maintenance & testing of warning systems, and agency coordination during an emergency.
