Two-week, in-residence training course. Designed for those individuals who are blind or visually impaired wishing to learn white cane travel, improve upon existing cane and traveling skills, and further their goal of becoming independent.

Provides reading services to people who are unable to use standard print materials because of a disability. Programming includes local, regional and national newspapers, grocery/retail store advertisements, magazines of all types, talk radio and other special interest programming, including disability related information.

Blindness
Provides education for children with blindness, low vision, deafblind and visual impairments with multiple disabilities. Offers PK-12+ educational programming. Vocational training is available. Day school and residential school programs available.
Offers a summer camp for children who are blind or are visually impaired.
Provides visual experiences to eligible children under the age of 18 who are diagnosed with a medical condition that will cause blindness or moderate to severe visual impairment.
The Council offers Information & Referral services to Ohio residents and their families experiencing blindness and vision loss. Support groups and weekend activities are offered at various times throughout the year. ACB Ohio has a state conference held in Columbus each fall. Also, people interested in becoming a member for a small fee will recieve a quarterly newsletter.
Offers a free service to those who cannot read regular newsprint. Offers over 400 publications to choose from, including ten national newspapers li, sixteen news sources , fourteen international newspapers, and many state newspapers, as well as fifty magazines.

Reading Services for People With Disabilities
Blindness
Conducts a monthly meeting to discuss issues and programs affecting the blind and vision impaired.
Provide services to help people with visual impairments gain or retain employment. Services could include evaluation, vocational counseling and guidance, providing adaptive equipment, training in the use of assistive technology (ex:JAWS) and orientation and mobility (helping people get around), treatment and job placement assistance.

Trains dogs to guide the blind. Provides two and a half weeks of in-residence training to successfully match the blind person with a guide dog. Room, board, all equipment, and round-trip transportation are provided free of charge to the student.
ACBO-Ohio offers scholarship opportunities at the Ohio State University, University of Toledo, and Wright State University, to visually impaired students or anyone endeavoring to be a teacher of blind children.
