Financial Relief | Lucas County Government

Provides emergency financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, public transportation, medication, prescription, work clothing, and food vouchers through partnerships with other providers. Also provides VA Benefit Advocacy to help veterans and their families identify and access benefits from the Department of Veteran Affairs for which they qualify. Also provides official State of Ohio Veterans ID card that proves that the veteran has honorable discharge papers filed with the county. Veterans may also use the card for discounts with area businesses.

Nami Homefront | National Alliance On Mental Illness - Lorain County

Offers a 6-week peer education program for loved ones of military service members and Veterans who experience symptoms of mental health conditions. Participants will be able to gain practical, up-to-date information about mental health conditions, including PTSD, depression and substance abuse; learn about the latest treatment, options; discover problem solving techniques, coping strategies and communication skills; and find community support in a confidential setting.

Veterans And Families First Program | Volunteers Of America - Ohio And Indiana

Provides supportive services to low-income veterans and their families living in or transitioning to permanent housing. Offers outreach, case management, health care referrals, legal assistance referrals and help with fee payments, daily living costs and service referrals, housing counseling services, personal financial planning services, transportation expense assistance and assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits. Additionally, the program may also provide time-limited payments to third parties (ex. landlords, utility companies, moving companies and licensed child care providers) if these payments help veteran families stay in or acquire permanent housing on a sustainable basis.
