Assistance with Protection Orders, court appearances, police reports, and related issues; court accompaniment, and assisted through the legal system on varying issues (filing charges, etc.) responds 24/7 to Hospital and provides Rapid Response to law enforcement as requested.

Offers 24-hour support and crisis management to hospital patients who have experienced domestic violence. Advocates meet with patients to discuss options, safety planning, and community resources. Advocates can assist victims to arrange intake to the shelter directly from the hospital. Outreach counseling is also available to clients in a secure, confidential location. Advocates are available to offer 24 hr. suppport over the phone to anybody who is a survivor of domestic violence (COPEline takes information and transfers call to WomenSafe's advocate).

Provides confidential counseling with a mental health professional for victims of domestic violence. Offers counseling for children who have witnessed or experienced some type of abuse or violence. Provides family therapy and parent education focused on helping the household to recover from past abuse, violence, or other traumatic events. Seeks also to prevent abuse within families who may be at risk due to a variety of stressors including: large family size, teenage single parenting, financial problems, drug problems, special needs children, etc. Teaches how to deal with child and parent anger issues, to handle conflicts and manage stress, to recognize cues from children and address their needs, to administer reward and punishment, and to build better communication among family members.

Assists individuals in gaining access to a range of services available to them in the community, such as housing, income assistance, safety, physical and behavioral health needs, parenting education and vocational needs. Develops an Individual Service Plan (ISP) with the client and works with victims of domestic violence on issues of self-esteem, life-skills, and safety planning for themselves and their children. Also provides reestablishment services, such as relocation assistance and emergency rent/mortgage payments, security deposits for those with financial need. Often provides needed household items such as furniture, cleaning products, personal hygiene products, clothes, food, etc. Maintains follow-up contact with clients for a minimum of three months to two years.

Provides temporary emergency shelter for survivors (women and men) of domestic violence and their children. Can house up to 32 people. Counseling, support, parenting education and advocacy are offered to residents. Provides on-going support to prevent re-victimization. A case manager will provide life skills training to help clients procure housing, employment, food, clothing, etc.

Offers assistance in dealing with the justice system to individual victims of domestic violence (including elder abuse), stalking or related crimes. Includes information on the legal process, safety planning, and planning for next steps in the legal process. Advocates are not attorneys but have access to lists of attorneys who are knowledgeable about domestic violence. Advocates are assigned to the criminal municipal courts and are available assist victims with the criminal court process, including temporary protective orders. Accompaniment to court is provided to victims who live in the areas served. Accompaniment services are available for victims with criminal complaints, child custody cases, juvenile court cases if the parents have been together but never married, divorce cases, and domestic relations cases. Those who are clients may have access to donated cell phones to use in emergencies.

Provides a network of volunteer cosmetic dentists who restore the damaged teeth of domestic violence survivors who received injuries from a former intimate partner or spouse. Repair is provided to the "smile zone" only (generally, the front teeth), however, a limited amount of work may be done for teeth outside of the smile zone in some cases. Program does not replace or fix dental work. In other words, dental work that does not fit, looks bad, no longer works, an implant that was started but not completed or any work that has been completed by a GBAS dentist in the past.
Provides support groups that are facilitated by agency professional staff for women who want to explore and deal with their domestic violence issues. Child care is available at certain locations.

If no need for immediate shelter is determined, agency refers individuals to agency justice, domestic violence support group and other programming according to their assessment.

Provides a structured mentoring program. Mentees are matched according to their skills and interests with women in the professional community who serve as mentors. Contacts domestic violence victims within 24 hours of referral. If the victim is willing to pursue court action, will accompany and transport them to the prosecutor and to court. Provides a packet of domestic violence information to the victim, and encourages them to participate in a support group and/or counseling. Informs victims of the State Victims of Crimes program, and will assist them in filling out the necessary forms.
