Provides counseling and behavioral health services to families to help them cope with the challenges of either having a disability or illness or caring for a person with a disability or illness. Social workers provide individual, family, and group behavioral health counseling to help prevent and address mental health issues, provide tools to manage stress, and promote emotional well-being.

Responsible for sewer maintenance, water connections within the public right of way, and treatment of sewage and wastewater. In case of basement flooding, will send an inspector to the site to determine if blockage or break is in the main sewer line (for example, the storm sewer in the street) or on private property (from the curb to the house). Can only address issues with publicly owned sewer line. The sewer line from the curb to the house is the homeowners' responsibility. Where possible, will give the property owner advice on what is needed to remedy the problem. Takes complaints and reports from consumers concerning water and sewage service and will answer questions about billing. Prepares annual drinking water quality reports, and responds to inquiries about water pollutants. Reads water meters monthly.

Provides academic counseling, college planning assistance, intelligence testing, and career counseling. Works with youth and families by providing general counseling and social work services, including referrals to needed social services.

Adult Inpatient and Outpatient Assessments and Admissions – 24/7

Provides the opportunity to view a current movie in a theater with reduced admission prices, the lights turned up and sound turned down, outside food permitted, and talking allowed during the movie. Goal is to make a space for those with a variety of disabilities (including autism) to see a movie. Films are generally G to PG rated and oriented towards youth.

Offers a support group for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), their friends and families. Provides an opportunity to join others who are affected with ALS; to learn from health care professionals, and discuss topics of mutual interest. Meetings are facilitated by a licensed social workers or the director of care services.

24-hour crisis hotline for any individual in need of support, emergency shelter, referrals and information; particularly serves survivors of gender-based violence (domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking) and their family/friends. Hotline: 937-222-SAFE

Provides case management for mental health clients who require support in managing their symptoms or in accessing community services.

Provides an intensive substance abuse treatment program for eligible individuals. Program includes work with the counseling team in group and one on one therapy sessions. Includes consistent attendance is required for six hours (one hour/week for six weeks)of psychotherapy courses in self-acceptance, rejection, coming out issues, internalized homophobia and other topics. Participants must attend seven 12-step meetings per week.

Store accepts donations of: building surplus materials, furniture, tools and supplies to be sold to the community. This programs allows for the option of building and furnishing more homes in Preble Co. Location is currently located at 131 North Barron St. in Eaton.

When an individual has been determined eligible for Athens County Board of DD Services they will be assigned a Service and Support Administrator (SSA). The SSA will work with the individual or the family (if a child) to learn what their needs, wants, interests and hopes are. The SSA will identify service options that will focus on and help address the individual’s hopes and needs. When the individual has identified the service they wish to receive the SSS will work with the individual to develop an individualized service plan, assist in selecting a provider and exploring the available resources to purchase the selected services.
