Provides and administers the Community Development Block Grants. Works with the intent of assisting persons of low and moderate income, (regardless of their financial means) to live in a decent, safe, and sanitary environment by eliminating urban blight and detrimental living conditions. Provides funding for home rehabilitation. Common examples of housing services we have assisted with in the past: roofing and gutters, porches and stairs, water heaters, furnaces, exterior doors, and electric upgrades. The financial limit for an emergency rehab project is $22,500.

May be able to provide services to build wheelchair ramps or other minor home modifications for individuals in need.

Program provides in-home alternatives to nursing home care for low-income seniors. Services include: a personal care plan to meet the individual's needs at home by arranging an appropriate mix of services to supplement care provided by family members and friends. Eligible services include adaptive and assistive equipment, assistance in the home with health activities, such as taking medications appropriately and other health-related activities, with case/care management, adult day care, chore service, home medical equipment and supplies, emergency response systems, home-delivered meals, homemaker services, independent living assistance, minor home modifications, nutrition consultation, personal care services, medical and non-medical transportation. Program also administers the Pre-Admission Review process that determines the level of care for persons who want to enter Medicaid-certified nursing homes and periodically offers vendors training on dealing with elderly/disabled individuals.

Individuals 60 and over may qualify for minor home repairs and modifications that address health and safety issues including: grab Bars for the tub/shower, wheelchair ramps, inspection and repair of furnace, water heater, water pump (not replacement), repairs to flooring or stairs and/or hand rails for steps/ramps

Temporary or portable wheel chair ramps and other home modifications needed for individuals with disabilities may be available.

Performs work to make homes and businesses more accessible, such as widening doors, remodeling bathrooms and kitchens (such as lowering sinks and cabinets), installing roll-in showers, and remodeling decks. Sells lifts, ramps, and automatic door openers. Offers services to provide communication and computer accessibility.

Provides needed repairs and handicapped accessibility modifications for mobile-home owners. Funds may be used to repair or replace a heating unit, hot water tank, severely deteriorated windows, walls and doors, or correct code violations. May also be used to improve accessibility for those with disabilities. In some cases, may be used to improve sewer, well, and plumbing.

The Y- Men will start construction of wheelchair ramps typically starts in April and ends in September. If you need a wheelchair ramp, own your residence and meet our basic requirements you may be eligible for a free ramp. YOU must take the time to request, complete and return an application for a ramp. Step 1. Send a written request for a ramp application to: Y Men's Service Club. P.O. Box 275. Marion, Ohio 43302 or message name and address on Facebook Messenger. Step 2. You will be mailed a ramp application. Complete the application and return it to the address shown above. Once the completed application is received and we determine you may be eligible will visit your home to determine the ramp is doable. If it is you will be added to the list and a build date will be determined at a later date.

The Habitat Critical Home Repair program helps low-income homeowners by providing affordable loans to help repair critical issues in or around their home. Through the program homeowners' partner with Habitat for Humanity and our volunteers. This work improves quality of life and preserves the housing stock in Southeastern Ohio. Note: This is not a free program. The Home Repair program addresses health and safety concerns in several areas of the home as well as in the community. Projects have a financial cap of $5,000. They include, but are not limited to: - Unsafe Roofing - Sidewalk Issues - Plumbing Issues - Roof/Deck Repairs - Accessibility - Hazards inside and outside the home.

They include, but are not limited to: *Small home improvement and repairs *Appliance repairs and purchases *Major vehicle repair or purchase *Medical equipment *Home accessibility projects and purchases

Partnership of community and church groups from Richland County and throughout the US to do housing repair for people in need. Does NOT do roofing repairs or major foundation work. Does build ramps for those in need of a ramp. With the exception of wheelchair ramps, there is a $500.00 limit per household per year on repairs.

The Microfinance Program can provide affordable loans up to $2,000 so families can improve and maintain their homes and their quality of life without seeking out payday or high-interest predatory loans. Loans available for: - Replacement of countertops, cabinets, flooring, doors, windows, etc. - Repair (if manufactured within the last 15 years) or replacement of appliances - Repair of porches, decks, roof, etc. - Painting - Upgrades for energy efficiency - Accessibility projects (e.g., ramp). - Vehicle Repair funds may be available if the automotive repair could be linked to staying housed (example: fix vehicle to get to work to pay for housing). Funds may be used to address “quality of life” issues for Southeast Ohio residents in order to maintain and sustain their current housing.

Provides a home safety modification program to help prevent falls and other safety-related incidents. Provides repair and materials to enhance safety, including smoke detectors (will be referred to local fire department first), grab bars, hand rails, and easily visible house numbers. Individuals could also qualify for the another rehabilitation program with agency.

Provides financial assistance for eligible households to rehabilitate their homes if the poses a threat to health and safety. The program is designed to bring homes up to local and state code.

Provides home repair and rehabilitation to improve safety and lower health risks. Note: this is not an emergency program.

Provides funding for services/supports to persons eligible for Board of Developmental Disabilities (DD) services who live at home with their families or on their own. Types of eligible supports include camp assistance, home modifications, recreation, special equipment, specialized nutrition, and incontinence supplies.

Provides modifications to the home to make it accessible to those with disabilities (such as installing ramps, widening dooeways, lowering work areas, etc.).

Provides house painting; constructs exterior ramps to the home. Provides tree trimming and maintenance of large trees that may present a hazard on the homeowner's property.

Provides financial assistance for eligible households to rehabilitate their homes if the poses a threat to health and safety. The program is designed to bring homes up to local and state code.

Offers home repairs and rehabilitations to income-eligible Lorain County homeowners. Repairs may include roofs, water heaters, furnaces, A/C, electric panel, electrical, ADA modifications, plumbing, and more. The Home Repair Program provides no-cost upgrades and fixes for qualified homeowners. This grant-funded program requires no repayment by the homeowner. The Home Rehabilitation Program offers more extensive repairs and upgrades for homes. Assistance will be in the form of a declining-forgivable loan. There is no monthly payment, and no interest will be charged. No credit check is needed. 100% of the amount borrowed will be forgiven over (5) years provided owner continues to own and occupy the home. NOTE: Funding varies from year to year and might not always be available.

Ramp Up Knox County is a program that offers approved applications to have a safe and affordable ramp built for their home.

Offers installations of utility grab bars for older adults recovering from surgery or with fragile health through a partnership with Kiwanis Club of Barberton.
